Get yourself to Riders Corner. (if you are not already aware of it) http://www.riderscorner.net
It would be a good place to start, especially if Phil is there.

Your Welcome, it is a great area around there, I don't know if you have a plan....but if not..have a look at my RR, the link is in the signature block. Also speak with Phil if he is not out riding. Phil also has a forum you may be interested in looking at, very informative.....http://www.rideasia.net/motorcycle-forum/forum.php
You are going at a good time of year but the further north you go it can be chilly on a morning and misty in places

They have some of the best food around here, and great maps (in english!!) Of every highway, road, and trail. On the 8th I am going to get a bike again (if i can find luggage storage) and do a three day loop taking the 107 north to chiang rai, spend a day riding on thai side of the triangle, then take the 118 back to chiang mai to fly off the south and enjoy some RnR on the beaches.

I will tomorow. If not I plan B is bus up there and rent from Chiang Rai. The roads here are absolutly incredible for riding, and I won't be ableto ride at home until April/May.

My wondeful canadian expat neighbor, who loves my trip, has just offered to be my storage facility! Looks like I'll be making a post in "Day trippin."

Well, I did get over to riders corner but I'm sad to say it was no help. The place was empty. It was about 11:3O am and I figured I'd get some lunch and info. No one in sight. 2 riders pulled up and I did ask them and they just offered that the owner was out riding. That's it.
I guess there must be a better time to go?
    Anyway.....that's it.
