Have never seen that little reservoir before. Somewhere around Jumbo Grade?

Yes, it’s in the low saddle to the south before you head up to the repeaters.

In years past you could get there following the flume/pipeline trail from Duck Hill/395. I haven’t done it in many years. And I believe the pipeline got a major rebuild a few years back. FWiW

It is a siphon. I understand the principle from my youthful gas siphoning. But I am still impressed with the scope and performance in the real world. As another aside, I have been told that the little White House at the Lakeview entrance just off 395, straddles the pipeline and houses a water wheel generator. FWIW

Yeah, once I started looking at “reverse siphon” I decided that my understanding was going to be limited to, wow that’s cool!

I bet it was cooler! Down in El Dorado or Stanislaus area?
Sidetrack: good sized brush fire this afternoon between Lemmon Vy and Sun Vy. Watched a couple retardant drops on the ridge and no more smoke, so I guess they got it out.

Between 88 and 50, Cat Creek Rd., etc...it was an easy and beautiful ride. Also checked off one more Pony Express Station, Sportsman’s Hall. Cory, @Bonnie & Clyde, and I have now hit almost every station between Sacramento and Salt Lake City.

Good chow at Sportsman`s. We often meet my sister there for lunch since she lives just a few miles out.

@rickbt & @rjnutt and I did a big 220 mile loop yesterday. It was epic. High alpine and desert brush riding on a beautiful day. Ricky cyn, Rissue rd, sweet water, masonic rd around bridgeport reservoir. Lunch at the Jolly Cone. Out to twin lakes and burchman flat rd up to some reservoir off burchman flat rd and lost for a bit headed down to desert creek rd with its various creek crossing.

Well I feel a little better about being beat. I called Clyde after getting home and getting a shower and told him I was beat and felt bad about holding you guys up. It was me that missed the turn that got us on the wrong road but we only questioned that after 3 water crossings and we thought there was only one more. Not 3 more and each one longer and deeper.

When you get old and have your yearly check up they will ask you if you ever get lost. I tell them that I may not know where I am but I am not lost. They smile but they don't understand.

I great ride, a great day.

    Thanks
    Rick

@Smackit here are the tracks I think. Dont think for one second that Rick, Robbie, or I have any idea how to use or implement any of this GPS Voodoo. Let me know if these work. These may not include the Desert Creek section or Leviathan mine rd. To be honest I didnt even bring a GPS on this ride. These are the tracks that @rjnutt put together before the ride so its probably missing some of the actual tracks. @rickbt and @rjnutt both had gps on the bike so maybe actual tracks may differ.

Rick and Rob are right in that it was a long tiresome day. But well worth the effort
