Damn that thing looks new. Really good on the highway pig in town. But to head to the west coast, yes.

Nothing wrong with being comfortable while riding. Stay on the pavement with that tank. About time you added some Japanese ingenuity to your line up. Keep self isolated and ride lots.

Great looking old bike Nick - did you buy it?
If so, give us some highlights after taking her out for a good long ride.

Norm was complicit. He provided the trailer, wheels and chauffeur service when I picked it up. I now have about 250 kms on it and have to admit, it's the smoothest, most comfortable bike I have ever owned. It also has great weather protection: my feet stay warm and hands only get cool after a long while.

It is a heavy old tank (at least 875lbs wet), so slow speed maneuvers have to be taken carefully, but it is easy for me to flat-foot so not really a problem. I don't think I'll be taking it down too many dirt roads (don't quote me on that:rofl), and have to try to remember to do the Harley-back-in-parking thingy, otherwise it could easily get stuck and need a winch to wind out.

Rolling along though, it's a real joy. Plenty of feedback from that throbbing great V4 motor, tons of torque at any revs, and while no quarterhorse, isn't a lumbering great shire either. Just about everything works, so I'm on the hunt for a couple of headsets (5 pin, Goldwing style if anyone has them) so we can use the built in intercom / CB / radio.

Why did I buy it? Apart from being ridiculously cheap, it replaces the Burgman scooter we used as our two-up bike and which I sold to pay for the Guzzi Eldorado engine/gearbox rebuild. We're planning on more Newfoundland exploration this year Murph. Twillinggate, whales and icebergs are calling to us. The Cavalcade should swan us around in comfort and .........eighties style.

Man, it's ugly - but I really like it.

    Nick

Looks like a cross between a leather couch and a waterbed. Happy trails. Might see you in the Rock. Should be there the whole month of September.

The really neat thing about biikes is that specially in this age group they are affordable and it is just so cool to be able to switch things up a bit. She will float down the road I bet. And yes certainly Norm seems to enjoy living vicariously through your latest bike purchases. Good for you! Not to be negative but do these bikes have a second gear tranny issue? Don't know where I came up with that

That was the pre-1984 Yamaha Venture. Post 84 were all fixed. No major issues with the Cavalcade.

Beautiful day today, explored the depot lakes and then headed up to Lavant Mills Road/Ranger Camp Road. Think I may go camping there at some point!

Lots to catch up on.. welp guys I'm new to the area. Sold my city home back in Durham region and been up here in Godfrey/Tichbourne for two months now. I've had a cottage here since I was 11 and now I'm 44, it's time to slow down and enjoy living here full time
I'm always up for Rip, road or trail..
    See you out there,

Has anyone camped on Ranger camp road? I came across the campsites last weekend when I was out exploring. Thinking about heading that way Friday night.

Is that the road into Machesney and Stoll Lake? If so that is all crown land and it's on a first come first serve. Camped there many of times. Best spot is on the south side. Here is a sunset and finishing is good from shore.
