The story about the boat is
I went to te rewarewa marae - near ruatoki - was heading that way to rotarua and tokoroa anyway - one of the forums im on are doing a charity thing and this year its ww1/2 memorials - saw bits and pieces in nz and thought it would be good visit some
And on Google maps the header pic was a boat
So went to the marae and no boat Maori fella saw me pottering about ( the hall was being used for practice for a festival thing and there was singing and moves thing going on)
He told me there was no boat but there was one in whatakane ( pronounced fatakaanay)
as i left what did they practice?? Haka made my week
But I'd come from there and wasn't going back so went to I site and they told me there was one in Rotorua
Got to the I site there and they said yes head down the street to the shore of the lake and it was there
Bonus black swan spottage and got buzzed by float plane coming into land

I love wandering around there. I was a bit concerned about the Princesses having a hump, but they are sterile, no chance of them existing again. Back in the '70's there was Ray Vincent's Truck Farm up this way. Similar feel, just acres of old trucks parked in paddocks. I would go in and just wander around...alone, no one there...just ghosts.
Lots of vehicles I drove when an apprentice with the Post Office. Bedford vans , Hillman hunters , Morris Marina's,Toyota's
That Opel Blitz looks interesting. I had a Citroen BX as a company vehicle in London in the early 90's.
Interesting place to wander around.
no - planning trip in 21 taking in both islands two weeks or so
have to start saving now - colemans in auckland say theyll rent me a v strom 250 (which has not long launched ) for 55 bucks a day - BARG!!!
cape reinga te aro invercargill forgotten highway.................mmmmmmmmmmmmm
Great you want to come visit our fair shores. You will be able to get to both islands, and back to Auckland, in two weeks but you wont be 'taking in' much of them. Two or so weeks is a one Island adventure in the Island you arrived on.
did the central part of north island in a week 18 months ago
itll be a week on each island - if i miss owt i can always come back - only places i missed cos of time last time were napier te papa in wellington and invercargill
i was looking at renting but this seems too good to be true - list here is 4.5 k 5995 nzd is 3 grand gbp
theyre supposed to be 8495 in nz - theyve only been out since 17 - cant be discounting them already?
thinnking buy use export (looking at buying another bike anyway and these and versys 300 are on the list)
even if they charged $1000 to ship its still cheaper than here...........
can ya get onto stewart island?
Suzuki discount heavily when a new model is due. Plus the 250 strom may not be selling well. I've never seen one on the road here. They were selling the 650xt at 3k off list price just because the 19 model has a different colour scheme! Dr650s are very cheap new.
Why buy a new bike though? Why not something more suited to touring and will lose less on resale??? Are you thinking of staying??
