    Apple Valley Rally Sept. 20 - 23, 2018

Sorry for the short notice, y'all, it's been a weird year for me, but we're gonna do this anyway. This years' AVR will be staged back up in the Mt Hood NF near where we had it a few years ago, Thursday through Sunday. I'll be camping at the Billy Bob SnoPark on Wednesday evening, getting there likely just about dark-thirty.

The Apple Valley Rally is traditionally a RIDER'S RALLY. You can come here to just drink all day if you really wanna, but you'll likely be drinking alone, because most of us will want to RIDE all day in the best central area for Dual-Sport riding anywhere around these parts. I'm looking forward to the famous creek crossings on the Upper Fifteenmile Road, and that lovely nasty grade that goes down to it. On the way there, I found a GREAT ridge trail made by quads that goes deep down into a creek and a gully connector to a logging operation made by 4x4s. For those looking for an opportunity to ride sections of the North Cascades Discovery Route, all these campspots are smack on the North CDR path. Campfires will likely still be forbidden, unless it rains a bunch between now and then, so if any of you have a portable propane campfire and/or heater, please bring it on up to share with us.

This a no-cost classic ADVRider Rally in the woods, and there's room for all-a-yas in the three areas. All ADVRider Forum members are invited, even YOU!; Farm Rules apply here.
Please do NOT share this event on Facebook, as this is a no-cost ADVRider Rally just for ADVRiders.

I'll supply and make all the morning coffee for all riders at the Billy Bob SnoPark, the rest is up to each rider and all the other ADVers that will help share. All 4-wheel vehicles and RVs that are coming to this Rally MUST bring lots of extra water, ice & coolers, and whatever else you can bring with you to share with the tougher riders that wanna RIDE to this Rally.

Google Maps link for all three spots

MAIN RALLY BASE and 10am daily ride take-off point:
    Billy Bob SnoPark -
The SnoPark is a large blacktop space for motorhomes, large trailers, and those that need to fit in bigger spaces This place has a big Snow Shelter and a vault toilet but little shade and early sunrises. Lots of space for lots of big rigs here.

TWO Additional Rally campground locations are very near with easy overflow space for lots and LOTS of riders:

    Pebble Ford Campground $14/site(maybe?$?)
This is a very cool small 5-6 site primitive CG with a vault toilet that will actually fit LOTS of ride-in tent campers, and also a few pickup and small RV spots for ADVers that get there early.

    Eightmile Campground - $21/site - no hookups
This is a very nice spacious classic campground on beautiful Eightmile Creek just 1/8 mile away with lots of nice well-treed spaces for big rigs and RVs with several vault toilets in the CG.

Set your dates, I'll post more info when I get time.

WTF? Shit. I think you told me that a long time ago, and I forgot about it.....
OK then, we're switching the dates to Sept 20-23, 2018. There's just waaaay too many Big Shitty dorks with big guns and road-hogging 8,000 lb pickup trucks up in my forest when hunting starts.
Please note the date change to Sept 20 - 23, 2018.

So, you are torn between, "Do I want ride? or do I want to drink, and eat bacon?"

Gawd DAMMIT... Jeff, we are crewing back up the 5th... I doubt I'm gonna get off by the 20th. Fucking boat is keeping me out of every ADV event this year. Sure we can't just carry our own weapons for the hunters and stick to 27-30?

Less likely for me to ride at Wetfest but I can eat bacon and drink at both. Oregon riding is more fun. But you didn't hear it from me

I got hit by a old dork inna Dodge pickup on a one-lane paved forest road during AVR 2012 on opening hunting day, less than 5 miles from this AVR18 camp. I sure am glad today that I was leading, I'd hate if that happened to anyone else. I pretty much got away with that deal more or less,... so I figger it was a sign from Dog that I should pay attention to.
So no, I'm sorry, but no more AVRs during hunting season.

That's my plan. A freaking moto-dogpile on the forest to scare off all the deer before hunting season. Let's DO this!

...and right within 20 miles of these camps are the very best of the very baddest roads just about anywhere in Oregon.

    Bennett Pass Rd
Clarks Mill Rd out of Friend
Hedges Grade and the Great Suicide Grade Rd
Cold Springs Road that leaves right out of the back of camp
Grasshopper Road, and the finger road into Badger Lake
    Bonney Meadows Road
    Upper Fifteenmile Road
The Great & Bad Barlow Road is only about 35-ish mailes away
We truly have lotsa most excellent bad-road two-track riding all around here :jump
