Splitting this off from the "San Diego riders" thread.

We're heading out on a 250 mile loop through the desert, starting from the Warner Springs store at 8:30 on Sunday, April 9.

Are you planning on starting the trip by going east from warner springs or north?

Thanks for organizing this ride. It'll be my first with this group and I'm looking forward to a good day on the bike. I'll be coming down from Redlands and I haven't decided if I'm trucking it or riding the BRP down. If I haul it down is there a safe place to leave the truck? I know San Diego County can be a pretty rough place, especially compared to the 909:lol3 .
    Thanks again.

The starting point is on highway 79 in the lower left of the map. Warner Springs is a little resort town, there are only a few buildings along the highway, so the store is hard to miss.
I don't think there would be a problem leaving a trailer at the store and parking just outside town by the airport would also be an option.

I was planning to start out heading North towards Anza.
Then we'll be finishing the loop thru Borrego where it's easy to bypass the dirt sections if we're running late, or add more dirt sections if we're early.

Half of the people who said they wanted to go ended up flaking out on us.
Only 5 people showed up at Warner Springs and one of them (sickboy) had his bike blow up right at the start.
The 4 of us remaining, mikeyb, sandiegoland, riverrat, mattybag, headed off to complete the loop.

Not many pictures because we were too busy riding.
We rode a lot of good trails today. 421 total miles for me.

BASTARDS! I had no idea you guys were doing this ride! You know what I did today?

    I WASHED MY BIKE!

    GRRRRRR....sorry I missed it--sounds like a helluva ride.

What was it like going down the 74 into Palm Springs?

Thanks for the good loop today. 300 miles some really fun trails (along a lot of wind on the pavement) and a good small group of riders. Those that bailed out missed a good ride (and so did Sickboy with the shortest ride of the day, if a mile of pavement warm up is considered a ride). I had a lot of fun and look forward to our next ride. I'll try to post some pictures this week.
Oh yea, Craig's a stud riding that V-strom across that fire road. It's easy on the XR but not so on a street bike. Very impressive.
