I'm calling this the April fools ride. Why? Well, it's set for the first weekend of April which just so happens to be April 1-2-3. Clever eh? The Arkansas Turkey season doesn't start till the 9th so we won't be disturbing the hunters if we go riding on this weekend. That's a good thing, because I'm planning on searching out some really remote areas in the Ozark National Forest. This will be a dual sport ride with an emphasis on finding hilly twisty gravel roads and primitive camping in the wilderness. Not looking for trails, but if we find some that my GS can navigate, then I'm all for it. Here's my plan so far, Friday 7:30 AM meet at The Diamonds truck stop at the more western exit of 100 and 44. If you're going west on 44 make a right onto 100 then a left at the first light onto Old 100. Gas up at the gas station right there at the intersection then go on to the restaurant just over the hill. We'll eat breakfast before we head out by around 8-8:15. We'll stop in Gainesville, MO for lunch. Then finish out the day riding to Richland Creek Campground. It's just south of Dickey Junction, Arkansas I've got some tested and proven nice roads picked out for the trip down and back the riding on Saturday will be 'exploratory' for the most part. That, to me, is the most fun. I do plan on eating out mostly, but if someone wants to bring their own food, maybe we could have a meal or 2 out in the woods. If you feel you live too far from the meeting place to get there in time. I've got room here at my place for you and your bike to stay Thursday night. Or if you prefer doing your own ride, just meet us at the Campgrounds. I'm easy, so lets ride!
