Mr Rallye I was wondering how long it would take you to chime in..

As you can clearly see in the pic the bash plate is squeaky clean...because there is no oil in the bike ...ha ha ha ..

Mate good luck with the luggage and CC’s. hope you have a great new year..

    Cheers

    Hi Bigem

Mate the service intervals as per the book are 1st at 500km and check every 3 hrs (new engine) next one is at 3000km then 6000km and so on.

It does say every 15hrs go through a check ie: fluid levels loose bolts etc etc as you would for any bike.

For my intended use of this bike I will be servicing it at shorter intervals.

    Cheers

about time there was a bit of diversity on the Safari instead of all the usual copycat orange things and ho hum blue & red from the land of the rising sun :snore

these things did real well at the Pharaohs this year :deal

This is very good........ I like these bikes. I think they would make a great D/S with the rally gear on them.

If you think of it let us know what it is like to cruse on, vibration , throttle hunting etc.

I was thinking it would fit nicely between a Gasgas 300 and a 950 KTM.

    Fantastic workshop. I work in a 1 & 1/2 car garage. Everything's a squeeze.

Good Luck Mate! thanks for keeping us entertained!:freaky

Looking forward to this bike being tested, not wanting to put the mockers on it, but the early Aprillia twin dirt bikes were granades.
Talking to our local Aprillia agent had figures of less than 1000 k's before self distructing mentioned:huh

Pity, as I had my heart set on one, always been a twin man, and a little v twin is ideal, all reports said that they went like cut cats until the threw in the towel.

If the new ones are reliable, and the safari will tell us that, I will be getting one:evil

Do Safari tanks do a tank?
Everything else I can make myself, but for the tank.

Hey GT is that the stuff from B'Art? I got info on that a while ago cause these bikes really lift my skirts. I think the fuel tanks he makes turn these things into the long range, light weight, adventure bike that I've been craving. The '08s seem to have the engine problems sorted by all accounts and I love that small V-Twin!!

I'll be following your exploits closely.

    Cheers

Thanks for that GT. I love the small v-twin concept and will be looking at a 450ish size bike again once I get over the 2008 Economic crisis!!

That happens when you spend 40k on bikes this year!! ha ha

    Hi Dave

Yep it is the B-art gear, designed by B-art and produced by Twin Star.

Ref the reliability doubts ....yes the 06 - 07 models had problems but I have been surfing every forum and asking questions of the people in the know about the 08 models and the general consensus is that Aprilia have the engine sorted.

The Pharaohs Rally this year they had 3 RXV 450's all three finished ,3rd 7th and 11th not bad ..

On paper the RXV with it's separate gear box oil and engine oil along with the linkage rear end the light weight and the power from that little 450 twin should make for a good Rallye bike......time will tell.

The plan is to run it at the Condo next April..

this is a great thread...I have to admit, having ridden one of these I was very taken with it. I had no idea the rallye kit was available (actually, I'm not sure it was when I had the ride). I'll be very pleased to see how it shapes up.

Garry is correct, about time we had some other marques out there on the Safari...:1drink

just out of interest...CBV was delveloping a rallye kit for the RXV...( yet he's on a KTM at the Dakar)...are you using one of the kits he developed or did they not ever appear?

    Hi Guy

Best of my knowledge the "Rallye kit" that CBV was working on with Aprilia OZ never happened. The kit I have is from B-art and Twin Star in Amsterdam.
