In conjuction with this year's 13th annual Dust To Dawson "Over the Top Hop" several Gruvers are planning a mad dash up the Dempster Highway, into Inuvik and back to Dawson YT, in time to meet with rest of the D2D gang.
Here is what we have tentatively planned.

Saturday 6/11 Depart Anchorage/Eagle River southbound to Seward, AK
Sunday 6/12 Depart Seward, do a tunnel run to Whittier, ferry ride to
    Valdez
Monday 6/13 Depart Valdez.. Glenallen....Tok...Dawson City, YT
Tuesday 6/14 Depart Dawson..Eagle Plain, NWT
    Wednesday 6/15 Depart Eagle Plain..Inuvik
Thursday 6/16 Depart Inuvik... haul ass.... arrive back in Dawson City to
link up with the D2D riders :thumb

This thread will be the official site for information re: the "AC Dempster Dash" portion of the D2D.... That's all I know. Talk to me. :nod :nod

Yes indeedy that is what I mean. WTF was I thinking??? Departing Wasilla also includes those Gruvers living at or near the Abbey. Thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow. :thumb

OBTW Are you in for the ACDD??
AK Rider and Globie are serious contenders. If AKR can make the parade we can find someone else to handle the traditional poker hand distribution for the the group that runs the normal D2D route. Maybe Duckman can help us out... unless he decides to "dash" with us.

As a side note.. Katoomer is in Providence for some pre-planned plumbing surgery. Something that flaired up as a result of his superman trick last year on the Spokannonball. I will know more as the day progresses and I'll keep everyone posted. Rumor is that he will be in the hospital for 3-4 days.

You are sooooo correct about 6/16 being a bit of a ball basher. This is where the "Dash" part comes in. That will be a long day but it'll just make the beer in Dawson taste better. You also need to remember that we have all day and most of the night to get back to the D2D function.
As far as having a parts truck.... we are working on that. One of the reasons we scheduled the "Dash" to take place before the D2D was in case we had any "issues". Theoretically we would have people heading into Dawson who could expedite parts from Anchorage/Fairbanks or bring in a truck/trailer. Obviously we would hope not to have to use it/them. I have a 3-rail trailer that I would like to stage in Tok for emergency use.

    Hey Fighter,

I'm thinking that if Akrider goes with you guys, I could fly home from Seattle June 12th after my daughter's graduation, leave early Monday and meet you guys in Dawson that night, then do the rest of the Dash with as planned.

That could work well, and if Akrider still wants to do the Denali Highway on the way back, we could add it on at the end.

Akrider, if you're out there, what do you think of that idea?
Let me know when you get a chance.

    Aloha,

Fight, globie and the rest of the gruvers:

I am writing on my calander with pencil from now on. I have to see if I can rework my vacation. But some part of the run is possible. Mabe skip the round trip to seward and meet in Whittier.....or Glenallen...or Tok...or Dawson.
I know the road you guys have got to go past me sometime!

I read the article in Motor Cyclest. Ok so he hit the big Four rides in one trip....The Alcan, The Dempster, The Denali, and the haul road (even if he did only ride it one way). I say he earned his ADVRIDER badge. Oh and he did it solo on a DL650. Very cool. Give that man a Gruver sticker.

I talked to Katoomer this afternoon. He was still a bit groggy but not willing to share his drugs just yet. He will be in the hospital until later this week.
Anyone know if he has anyone staying with him when he gets home?

Sorry to screw up your calendar, AKR.
I really don't expect too many D2D riders to join us for the Dempster Dash. I am just trying to make the best of my off time. I would hope that a herd of riders is still planning to follow the Wednesday-Tok; Thursday/Friday-Dawson; Saturday-Tok program.
The Dashers will still be in Dawson City on Thursday and Friday and end up back in Tok for the Saturday night final.
