We camp at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge Thursday and camp the next two days at other campgrounds. Then ride back to TCWR on Sunday.

So noob question, but what would I need to do to my stock CB500X for it to be ready for something like this event? It looks like a lot of fun, but I don't want to show up on a bike that isn't ready for it.

Not sure. We travel mostly backroads through the Ozarks. Need a knobbie.

Knobby on the front at least. The gravel roads in the area can be steep, you don't want to run off on a downhill corner.

The most aggressive knobbies you can find and be ready for some DEEP gravel! This ride is a Blast. Scotty had some alt tracks for those that wanted less off-road experience.

    Campgrounds are finally finalized!

Thursday, April 11 - Early Bird Camp at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge - If you do not want to camp, there are rooms onsite and in Eureka Springs, AR.
Friday, April 12 - Camping at Byrd's Adventure Center - There are cabins all around this place for rent. Turner Bend and Mulberry Mountain have cabins and so does VRBO.
Saturday, April 13 - Camping at Buffalo Outdoor Center - If you do not want to tent camp the Buffalo Outdoor Center has cabins and VRBO does as well. Nearby.

    Hi Scotty,

Your web site itinerary still says Firday night at Mulberry, Here you say Byrds.

You may want to update the Arkansas500 web site as well.

My recommendation is Shinko E-804 front and E-805 rear.

I always get mine from Rockymountainatvmc. They are inexpensive and work well. In October I rode from Oklahoma to the Dragon, Snake, and Back of the Dragon with 804 on front and 705 (the 80/20 model) on the rear of my Tiger 800XCx. We searched out some dirt roads in North Carolina. Of the 9 days it rained for 5+ (you may remember Hurricane Michael - we met his remnants). I was really surprised how well the knobby 804 up front worked on the wet pavement.

It appears most of the cabins require two night stays or is there a secret password to get a single night?

I too am brand new to Adv Riding, and am excited to join in. Been riding most of my life, moto cross/cross country/trials and road, but a little nervous about being prepared/the unknown. I have a Garmin, but have no experience in reading off road files, but am working on it. I would also be interested in sharing a cabin, Friday and Saturday night. Any insights other than what Scotty has shared would be appreciated. And how do I get in touch with Tim about cabin space? Thank you.

No need for the Garmin. Just follow the dust cloud. It is a group ride.

Welcome, Fostman! You are going to love this ride. Keep working with your Garmin, you will get it down pretty quick. If you cannot load the tracks before the ride, I will help you. One thing, get yourself a boot dryer. They are pretty cheap and you get to start each day with dry boots! There is electric at the sites. If it going to be cold, bring a small box heater!

I have called Byrds/Mulberry and Turner Bend for Friday night logging, and all said 2 night minimum. Buffalo same story. I did get on short notice lists if they don't rent out, for a one night stay, but all logging across the board is pretty well all booked.
