The Arkansas 500 is a Dual-Sport Motorcycle ride (based out of Eureka Springs, Arkansas) that spans three days (April 6-8, 2018) and travels over 500 miles of back roads in the Natural State. Arkansas offers the most diverse sites and experiences for dual-sport riders in the Midwest, including beautiful wooded forest, large hill climbs, incredible water crossings and more back roads that can be ridden in 10 years! Get on your bike and ride the 7th Annual Arkansas 500 April 6-8, 2018, with like-minded people out for a great weekend.

The Arkansas 500 is a dual-sport ride benefiting Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, a 25-year-old non-profit big cat sanctuary. All (100%) of the profit from this backcountry dual-sport ride will go directly to help the animals. Thank you for participating. A $175 donation gets you all signed up.

Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner, and Sunday breakfast are all included and once again, we will have Chef Vic on hand doing the cooking. You are responsible for your own meals on the trail. Maybe you can talk your group leader into pulling over for lunch?

Camping is provided (bring all your own gear).
Activities: Riding, Fish-storytelling, practical jokes, eating, and maybe some sleeping are some of the common activities.

Another famous ride by ScottyXR - Get on it!

Route/Track talks have started. This year will have more options for the small bike riders to leave the track for some good ol' Arkie hog trails. Our first-night camping will be at Mulberry Mountain, on hwy 23, 55 miles south of TCWR. There are cabins nearby at Turner Bend. Also, check out VRBO and AIRBNB for local cabins and homes to rent for the night if you just cannot camp in a tent.

Our second night will be at the newly opened Buffalo Outdoor Center campground, near Ponca, AR. There are cabins in this area as well. Look for availability around Ponca. Both campgrounds have a great shower-house and facilities. Remember, camping is free for everyone.

Are there 2-stoke friendly routes (I.e. several gas stops?)

Interested in bringing either bringing a super tenere (probably not a good call?) or my YZ250R.

Stock 2.1 gal tank plus 2 liters? Biggest aftermarket tank I can find is 3.2 gal.

On hard singletrack, I estimate, I get about 19-20 MPG.

If you want a cabin for Saturday night, please call the Buffalo Outdoor center immediately. They only have six left. However, there are other cabins in the area.

Im assuming an Africa Twin would be too heavy for the hill climbs? Is it mostly trails or?

The AT is fine for this ride. We cater to small and large bikes. I have an AT and will be doing most of the preriding with it.

    Signed up!

What tires do most people run for this? I'm running Motoz Mountain Hybrids on the five hundy.... but something tells me a Trials rear MIGHT not be good in heavy midwest clay/mud.

The motoz mountain hybrid is my favorite tire for N/W Arkansas. More rocky /loamy soil than mud/clay. You will be riding in the Ozarks after all. IMG_1570.JPG

Good to know! I've spent my life riding the SoCal deserts and the Colorado mountains; Hell, I just moved to texas 6 months ago and I've never even been to Arkansas! But I've heard its absolutely gorgeous! So when I saw this ride, it took me all of three seconds to sign up! LOL!

And ya knobbies are cool.... but when it comes to rocks or having to slab it... trials slay! Only thing Id be concerned about with my tires is deep mud. Oh... and I HATE mud!
