390 Duke. You loved it!
Love this. You’re really making the most of not rushing through the country.
Another shout for maps.me and its terrific user-driven improvements and updates. It has trails that google would never know about.
The next morning, we made a hearty breakfast.
How does this Thai - California omelet look?
Then we hopped on my bike to explore Phangan island and some of the smaller beaches - like Koh Ma
Great adventure..... relationships are also an adventure and to tie them into riding bikes... well done!
Thanks for the update.
Keep em coming
Hold on Babe......let's go check out some of the beaches here on Phangan Island.
Nice swimming suit ...
It has been a while.
Maybe one of those new scramblers. Triumph, Ducati, Moto Guzzi or BMW versions all seem to have lowish seat heights.
We would spend our days riding my bike around the island discovering new beaches but at night we would go out and listen to some live music. Our favorite place was called "The Jam". Everyone and anyone that could play an instrument or sing was welcome to come up on the stage and play along with what ever they were jamming to. Surprisingly, it was so good, it almost seemed like it had been rehearsed. They would get a crowd of nearly 100 people there.
Another day to explore the beaches on Phangan. The roads get challenging on the back side of the island - especially two up and with a bald back tire.
This property is for sale. Not a bad view.
Beautiful hidden waterfalls
More somewhat secluded beaches
Miss you brother!
THanks for the report! Yours is the first Thailand RR for me so it was a nice intro. No bad watching your love life unfold too - gives it depth! It would be great to have some GPX of all those wonderful trails so that me and my RTW partners can check some of them out when we come through (time tbd) figure late 2020. Happy trails inmate!
You can't go to Phangan without going to the world famous Full Moon Party.
I went with Orsi this year.
I have been twice before.
And I swear I will never go again.
It just is not my thing.
Lots of mindless drunk people.
Great people watching though.
Haha I was glad to be there for your second time. Only highlight of the event. Not my scene either.
Learned my lesson the first time. Ear bleeding shitty repetative trance music
Way to go Ed. Looks like your decision to to spend a few months in Thailand was a great move.
When we weren't exploring the island on two wheels, we were out exploring the parts of the island we could only get to on two feet.
Hiking up a waterfall
Wouldn't want to try riding my bike across this bridge
Were there any doubts?
Never brother......awesome as always RR...adv is lucky to have this.....I'll see you soon
It was another beautiful beach day on Phangan and I wanted to take my favorite girl to my favorite beach on the island. It is my favorite beach because unless you have a boat, you can't get there........unless you know the way by land. It involves riding some dirt roads that pretty much every hippy backpacker with a scooter will avoid.
And even if you do have a capable bike and the talent to ride yourself there on these roads, you still have to know where the beach is there and how to get to it. But it is truly the most beautiful beach on the island and the only one left that is completely undeveloped. That means, if you can get there, you will surely have the entire beach to yourself! Think of the possibilities!
It took me a year to find my way to this beach. Getting there involves working your way down a steep, grassy, slippery hill filled with poisonous and centipedes. And even when I discovered the way there, I couldn't find anyone that wanted to go with me. But Orsi was, of course, ready, willing and able.
PARADISE FOUND (and earned)
I can't show you all of our pictures from that afternoon, but here is how the afternoon started.
