Gotta say that was one Kick Ass trip. Can't wait to go back again and finish the loop and do some more exploring.

I'd do it all over again. Well except for that Hard 5 section. That kicked my ass. Next time on the 500 or something, not 500#.

Thanks again for for the help along the way and the chatter. Good times.

    That looks epic.

    I think somebody bought a 690?

Yep! With 200+ mile days it was a much more comfy option.

Great pics. Wow, those gully/canyon/quarry pics tho!! Looks like the perfect cliff climbing playground to launch up those sandy clay walls. Did you give them a try? Reminds me a lot of the old Chicopee forest near Gainesville, GA/985 waaaay back in the day. It had a huge sand pit with perfect walls and washouts everywhere. For a 12yr old on a KX80 those hill climb launches were absolute seat clenchers & ball shrinkers but it felt like scaling Mt Everest when you made it. Pretty sure i sprouted my 1st pube on those cliffs. Whatever happened to Chicopee forest up there?

Jeff - I tried to warn you about a v-twin in the harder sections... Seriously, glad you guys had a great trip. Kentucky has some fantastic riding. Particularly if you are on a “dirt bike” dual sport.

It really wasn’t that bad but yeah there were several sections where I was wanting my 525. Especially on hard 5 and hard 3.

Now that my suspension upgraded on my 525 that probably more of a difference vs the 690 than the weight is.

Chicopee is split between hiking trails and MTB trails plus a golf course. Not sure how much of that was there before but I rode most of it a few years ago on a rainy weekday.

I always knew it as the Gainesville Desert..
And we were wringing out the little 80’s as well.
Those drop in cliffs seemed ginormous

it figures. I believe section 3 on the east side of 985 is where the pit was. To a 12yr old it was Disney on dirt and had a fun track inside the bowl and those awesome cliff climbs out of the bowl. Felt like i was giving my 80 all the beans getting up some of the cliffs. Prolly just blip the throttle on the 300 and float up them today. We had a similar but smaller pit here in Smynings next to I-285 but it became a land-fill that is now as tall as it used to be deep. Dude used to show up on a Maico 490 Sand Spider and roost the shit out of us. You coulda told me he was Superman and i woulda believed it.
Bring back the 1980's with the wings & mullets, Members Only jackets, parachute pants, red high top Reeboks and my damn hair blowing out a t-topped Trans Am :rofl
