Yep it's a damn golf course now. Had to stop the motorcycles from ruining the natural beauty of the woods.
That's where I got my start riding and spent many a Summer day from sunrise until after sunset in the Chicopee Woods. There was a small trail from our subdivision that connected to those trails. I never realized how lucky I was to have grown up in an area like that. We used to camp down at the lake.

We had a good time. I'd ride the 950 again for sure to do the main trail/loop. Most of the harder sections weren't too bad, for sure easier on a 350/500 size bike, but not bad. Hard 5 was the one that I'd probably pass on, even maybe on the 500. Not that it's that hard but with the trees down, and just a lot more rutted/rocky/root off camber stuff it was a workout. On the whole trip this year, I only really "fell down" twice that I remember- one was a little drop just after a tree crossing, almost tossed the bike down the side of a hill and once in the parking lot of the Bojangles when we walked thru the drive thru for lunch. Not sure what happened there. :lol3. Needed help/pushes in a couple of spots, but for the most part actually had some pretty clean riding.

Funny that some of the stuff you see in the videos (like the left turn out of the creek and up the rock ledge) was a piece of cake but there were lots of other obstacles that took time and a lot of effort. Being really hot and humid didn't help either.

Overall, it was a fantastic ride. I'll put together a ride report and some video soon.

That was a great place too.
My dad took us there in Jeep Renegade cj7 w/305 side pipes 35" swampers and the CB whip antenna bowed from the rear to front bumper.
    He jeeped
and I rode my straight piped '72 XR75
Dad would pick up my bike and put in the back of the jeep like a case of beer
(Or with case of beer )

I rode a number of different bikes there over the years.
I used to refer to those full bore motocrossers in full color gear that rode out there - the Darth Vader types. (I would prolly enjoy roosting them nowadays)

I don't know about Darth Vader; but in 83-84 i looked more like C3PO in my Hallman full cage chest protector, boots and half leather pants. To this day i still wear a full AXO aircage with forearm to tailbone protection. On a summer ride Its nothing to sweat out 7lbs while simultaneously frying bacon and eggs under all that protection.
I now save the leather pants for date nights......

My buddy Mill lives in Idaho and posts incredible pics of the single track there. He’s always trying to get us to go up there to ride.
