I am completing my preparations for a ride to Alaska on a 2014 V-Strom. I plan to leave Atlanta around July 15.

I'll be posting details of my trip here as well as my personal site https://ez-e-adventure.com

I just returned on my 2011 We. Only suggestion i would make here is get a foot for your side stand and make sure your side stand spring is in good shape. Have a great trip.

I am in Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina this week. There is a lot of good riding here. I watch with envy every Adv Bike I see on the road.

Meanwhile, my bike is packed and ready to go.

I started the ride up North. Not a lot of dilly dalleying around until I make it to Glacier NP. I rode from Atlanta to Cincinnati for day one - mostly highway riding, but I enjoyed the Appalachian mountain views and the Kentucky countryside.

    My thoughts for this trip:
    - Stay Healthy: eat well and get exercise
    - Enjoy the journey: freedom of the road and all that. Stop and enjoy. Chat up the locals and others who have experience.
    - Learn: Visit museums, take time to read.

For those following along, I'll be turning 55 on this trip. I grew up on a dairy farm in a small Utah town. Motorcycles were a lot of fun, but often used as a farm vehicle.
I recently started riding again and rode from Georgia to California and back last year. I love to camp off the bike especially in dispersed camping areas. I like to get off the beaten track.
I am fortunate to own an IT consulting practice which allows me to take extended time away from work.

Subscribed! And drop me a PM if you need a place to crash if you're overnighting in Prince George along the way. I've got a couple acres of lawn for tenting, or a spare room if you'd rather not unpack/repack the tent for a night.

    Safe travels!

I made it to Wisconsin and camped overnight on the second night. Perfect camping weather, but a lot of mosquitos. Tried out both of the mosquito repellents that I brought along for Alaska. Still, I hate the pests and came close to bring out the mosquito head net. Now that I am this far north, I'm slowing down and starting to ramble a bit.

WI highway 14 provided a more scenic route. It is a relief to not look at the back of semis. I noticed that highway was nicknamed the Frank Llloyd Wright byway. At the sign for the Frank Lloyd Wright visitor center at Taliesan, I spent 4 enjoyable hours on a tour of the estate. At the café, I enjoyed an organic salad (grown on site), a Wisconsin Grilled Cheese sandwich, and a tall glass of lemonade.

Taking WI 60 along the Wisconsin Waterway to Prarie du Chien then WI 35, I ended an enjoyable day of riding in La Crosse.

I have not been on ADV in a long while...haven't been on a bike either. Time to start thinking about getting back into the nuthouse and a current RR to Alaska sounds like the perfect ticket in! Enjoy the journey and thanks for sharing.

Good choice! I found the tour fascinating and the architecture is iconic. Also, after 25+ years up here, I can say that the setting is about the best scenery the Midwest has to offer... :hide
