For an excuse to run down towards the "Driftless area" of Wisconsin,
I am hoping to take in this small mushroom festival to go eat some mushroom brats, cheese with mushrooms, steak and 'shrooms and perhaps a glass of beer :drink.
Saw a special on it on television, looked like nice small town fun and some good eats. Even if you hate mushrooms, it's an excuse to go for a ride I guess.

    From their website:

"The 37th annual festival honors the tasty mushroom - enjoy it fried, or you can purchase some to take home and enjoy later. Saturday night offers a fireman's annual steak feed followed by fireworks. Sunday parade at 2pm. Also includes a craft fair, flea market, car show, carnival and much more."

Ah yes the mushroom fest. Always a good time. I'm about 30 minutes from muscoda. So if anyone makes it down this way let a guy know.

Grizz, can you suggest someplace or towns nearby that might have a decent mom and pop kind of motel?

It would be fun to stay close to the event.

Richland Center has a few, or dodgeville might be an other option. If you feel so inclined there is a campground called Blackhawk Lake that has some nice little cabins with a view that are reasonably priced near the small town of highland. This is only about 10 minutes from me.

Thanks buddy, appreciated. I hope to grab a reservation early someplace so I know I have it covered.
I have not ventured really south of LaCrosse, so I am looking forward to a couple day ride/event. Might snag some Rustic Roads at the same time.

No problem brother, I have a couple GPX routes for the area on some nice gravel roads if you are interested.

    True!
I was referring to the first post on the page.
I guess what I should have said was, “there sure isn’t a lot of activity on the WI Riders thread”.
Sorry to start off on the wrong foot... :cob

But then again, at least it looks like I stirred up some activity!

There's also a really nice BMW rally in Soldiers Grove that weekend. Nice gathering.
Madison BMW Club puts it on.

I grew up 7 miles from Muscoda. Boscobel has a decent looking hotel, i have not stayed there yet, but I am the weekend of June 8th.

If you want a private cabin, there is a place called Woodman Lake RV and Camping, it is located about 15 miles West of Muscoda. They have tent camping, RV sites, and some small cabins. I know the guy that runs it, great guy.

Unfortunately, there is no food in Woodman, so you need to bring in food, or eat in Boscobel.

We host a group ride usually the same weekend as the Morel festival, but this year i thought it was a bit early and perhaps risky weatherwise. I hope you get nice weather.

Grizz, i would be interested in seeing your gravel routes. We also have loads of routes available in that area at www.driftlessroadadventures.com. All are available to download for free.

Depending on where you are in MN, you could take several of our routes and string together a great trip out and back. We also tried to work the paved Rustic Roads into our routes, so that might help you out a bit too.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

This will be more of an Adventure ride not dual sport.
Not much actual dirt riding for this one.
I've heard rumors of a small off road section on private property, but otherwise it's gravel and paved twisties.

Yeah, this is not really an off road ride, but I was thinking it would be a good opportunity to meet some folks for future rides.

Hello everyone. I recently moved from Iowa to Wisconsin and im looking for places to ride and individuals to ride with on a pretty consistent basis. I grew up racing single track around the Morrison IL area. I live in Appleton and have been going up to Mountain and the U.P to go on rides. Looking for individuals that know the area better than I do.
