I'm trying to remember the offramp we got off on for the tunnels. The first one is right by that exit. It may have been The Cedars. Let me find out.
Hi Matt, I wanted to get back to you about the tunnel entrance. I remember that it's basically at the bottom of the ski hill at Donner Ski Ranch, on Soda Springs Road. The first photo I posted with the graffiti is where you enter, but you have to do it from the right side because there's a gate there. Don't sweat it, it was pretty easy to take the little trail around the fence into the tunnel. Have fun!!!

I will post our GPX tracks when I get home, it has the tunnels on that but I met up with the group in soda springs after they rode foresthill, so my tracks go up the interstate until I met up with them, we then rode the tunnels and down too the edge of donner lake.

Is there a gate across the entrance to the tunnel?

There is a gate at the west side but not on the east.
Easy ride around and no signs prohibiting motor vehicles.

Yes, but you can get around it on the right side (facing it), just up and around a little single track.

Carb problem. Tom's in the process of rebuilding it now.

We're doing another trip to Fortuna from Sonoma County this weekend.
Up Usal road and Kings Peak Road.

Coming back Sunday from Hwy 36 down to Covelo and then to Lake Pillsbury
    and out to Potter Valley.

    Weather is looking pretty nice.

I wish I would have seen this earlier. Me and my riding buddies have a group called O.M.A.R. (Old Men Adventure Riders) over on FaceBook. There are 6 core riders/friends that make up the group from age 39 to 57 that live mostly in Northern California. It looks like you do some nice rides.

Well you guys are all younger than I am. (but not by much)
Most people on our rides are in the same age range too.
I'd check out your site but I don't do Facebook.

We used to do quite a few organized rides a few
years ago but they tapered off. I think we're going to try and
do one a month now. Either a day ride or a weekend.

Of course we do a 5 dayer at the Mendo Rally for the
last eight years. Maybe check that out in the Western thread,
probably post it up in February.
