So that'd be what the tank behind the bike in the photo is for ??????
what about the auxiliary motor for the front wheel drive...........may I suggest a lombardini diesel to drag it up the hills.........
Now that's an idea Gordy, one motor either end, jeez - you'd have make sure the thottle was well & truly in sync.! :eek1
Now there's an idea ......
Another productive day
I had this old DR600 donor bike that was to be for the RG250 Scrapper, which failed to launch with me but Andy Meddings has taken it on
My plan was to cut the top off this frame and weld it on top of the CB250 frame. Ths would give me the rear tank bracker, seat bracket and subframes.
Molly gave me a lift with the excised subframe.
Cable tied it in place, just have to make a few brackets to weld it together
Seat back on and check fit.
Seat on and front guard, as can be seen the forks are really twisted :eek1
Even found the old DR600 sidecovers, and clipped them on.
Just need the back tyre and it will be a roller
Col, I can almost taste that carton of beer
Looking good old son, wish I could get into the workshop more!, might head up there tonight
Buckscreek, aka Joe, asked me to post up this pic of his next Scrapper
It just needs a quick polish and it will be ready to go . . . . . . .
Im sure Joe will fill in the details
Hey Pezz many thanks for posting the pic this is a honda sl175 twin which I picked up really cheap couple of weeks ago. Compkete apart from headlight and sidecovers. The kicktart shaft has been cut off with an angle grinder, one engine case has been "fixed" with araldite and the gear shifter has been welded on. Lucky we have a spare donor engine lying about.
This one is going to my bro in law Bruiza to use as therapy between shifts as an ER nurse. Its up for a scrub and reconstruct rather than a restoration, in time for SAR#6.
Anyone got any more 175 twins lying about? (Not you Bill, I will come and collect that GL soon) I need a CB, CD & a CL because I have an addiction........:eek1
Heh heh I saw that line and for a sec there I thought....I have the perfect come back
The bikes perfectly safe where it is until you're ready mate
There's this one http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/wangaratta/motorcycles/motorbike/1066636355
Just chatting with Gordy re fuel economy on the CB250's
It seems they get around 25-30 kpl and with the 21 litre DR600S tank that gives me 525-630k's and if I throw a bum tank on and additional 150k's
I better get the seat sorted pretty quickly.
Progress will slow a bit now, as I wait for the rear tyre to come in, get a roller and then I can set the seat position and weld the DR subframe to the CB frame.
Once its running I can start the rear end conversion. Which will happen after the Tiddlers Rally.
Perry that swingarm are you going to slot the sprocket carrier mount?
There are also ready made hubs with drum brakes and cush drives for mounting the big tyres that aren't stupid tw wheel prices.
I hope to have my fatty done this year
maybe hit the sand next
Yes I will be slotting the jackshaft, I have a few different drawings for the swingarm design but will have it adjustable to tension the chain.
Can you get me a source for the Big Wheel stuff mentioned above??
If I can get it at a reasonable price then I'm very interested
I did find Quad hubs are cheap as, on USA ebay.com
Think a LTZ400 front hub, with 110mm spacing, including disc were about $US35.
Post a pic of yours please???
The one is my preferred option
There's a carcass down in Mansfield!
Haha any pics would be a bunch of parts and a half built swingarm jig.
For the rear hub look at suzuki rv90 or 125 stuff. They run a 10" rim.
I started with a bw front hub and was going to machine off the rim mounts and make a new centre and add a sprocket carrier, well joe was going to do the machine work, and use the drum brake.
A bit of work for it to work.Looking at the rv stuff it looks pretty simple to add a quad rim and tyre which i already have.
Front end i have honda atc350 triples, nice and wide, which take a 35mm fork tube.
I will have to make my own front triples, however if I am going down the path of Leading links than I may not have to. The ATC triples would be great
You can buy front hubs like the YFM350 front hub for $50.
Im looking at some quad wheels from here: www.austraco.com.au
One hell of a website Pezz - thanks for the link,
May even resurrect my little toy [Canadian 'Argo'], sitting in the stables
Whenever I see those pictures I can hear the Banana Splits theme... "One banana, two banana, three banana four..."
Love to see one in working condition!
