Thanks Old Dog!! - It was your Fantastic Ducati Dual Sport build that really caught my interest - that must have been a few years ago - I think perhaps for the Scrapheap ride to Cameron Corner?

I'd been looking for a suitable bike for ages after that without alot of luck, budget had alot to do with that. Then last year I got hold of an XT600 that had oil leaks & plenty of issues for $800 with Rego. Fits the Scrapheap Rules!!:D So began the insanity :evil Been talking with Perry a bit since then.

The XT has since undergone a top end rebuild, & a bunch of stuff with more plans in the making too. & I've still got one more oil leak that I've tracked down to the right side cover. Had registered for last years ride but at the last minute ended up in Hospital getting surgery on my elbow for Golden Staph infection - there ended last years Ride Hopes.

So I'm super keen this year!! I'll learn how to post pics later so I can show off the beast:wink:
Great to be talking with you finally.
Re the IT - I'll pass - I think a Tiddler will have to wait a while ...

    Well Baz and all
The front tyre on the CB is a 90/100/18. Bit of a weird size

    … Strewth

Thought I would ask the brains trust what is available in that size??

    Knobbier the better

Perry what about the rears knobbies that come in close to that size

Thinking of running one of those on my postie build instead off a fatty dune tyre.

I had thought about that …
Just located a nice quad front tyre in a narrow profile at Austraco
I will post a pic but looks to have a nice round profile
The rear will be a different story :lol

    Cool
The trials tyres in 18 aren't to bad either.
I'm tossing up between a 7" or 8' rear for the postie.

I have ordered. 5" rear alloy rim
And running a 24" rolling circumference tyre.
The narrow rim makes the tyre profile a little rounder
I had better post the pics

    Yeah post pics
I have 5" split rim on the rear so am interested in the tyre.
I am trying to keep the tyre out off the guard area otherwise i have to split it and widen it:evil.

Alloy rim isin the background. It will round up with some air. The big point for me was when you lean over the need for tread :D
The fat tyre beside it was a possible rear, but I went for the one in the 3rd pic

This is the rear I went for . . . .its phat :lol3

the 6.5" is nice and round and so are the 7"
a fat 8" would be the shiz

    Try a 100/90 x 18" or in old terms 3.50 / 4.00 x 18", how nasty do you want it?, I'd tend towards a Dunlop K70 :clap
or a trials pattern, both work well with the K460, & should be readily available
    Cheers

Actually I think the 14 might surprise you as it skips across the sand like a flat stone across water. My my how poetic is that? And on a Tuesday morning!:huh

Lets just say that curiosity got the better of me :D

Have you noted how close the exhaust runs to the intake? A small discreet turbo would fit in there nicely.
