A mate told me that Turbo was/is doing jail time for pulling a knife, if my memory is working right it was someone doing a bit of repossession work.

He did a bit of time for fraud, but that was some time ago. Last time I saw him he was on crutches so was probably trying to get on a disability pension or something.

If you knew how many trucks have gone arse up in Queensland alone recently you wouldn't be so keen to do a ride along. :-)

Riding to here https://www.flyingboat.org.au/ in late October to see PBY24-30 on display. Dad was a navigator / radar op and flew in this old girl 1940 - 1944

We were wandering about the QANTAS museum in Longreach yesterday where among other stuff is a very tidy Catalina. Looked airworthy but I couldn't get a straight answer. The rest of the museum was well worth a couple of hours, and thats ignoring the 747 and 707 tours.

Thanks for posting that up Phil, always liked the look of the old PBYs and would love to see one again. Didn't know they had one in a museum in Vic so will try and visit the place when over there next. Cheers

My friend took his Dad to RNZAF Whenuapai to see an old PBY Catalina that he had served in during the war in the Pacific.
He'd arranged for a flight in the Cat as a surprise 80th birthday present.
The idea was to drive up to this thing, show the old boy the plane and then announce the flight.
The old geezer took one look at the Catalina and said, "...you'll never get me up in one of those things again!".

The 707 was an experimental aircraft, in a demonstration it was barrel rolled, that led to many orders...[IMG]

They brought that Black Cat over for a shin-dig when they opened Wollongong airport a few years back. When they found out Dad lived just over the hill they invited him to meet the New Zealand crew and they took him up for a whizz.
I have some great pics of Dad with the Kiwi crew.

    Here you go.
