It came through Cairns in 2008 sometime, I remember watching out for it, but cant remember if I saw it!
I saw one at Duxford in the UK, but that was before I had a digital camera so no pics to hand

Australia purchased 265 Cats. I'm thinking the one in Longreach was probably sold from here after the war and bought back again.

Thanks for the vid, Dave. The farkle that made the Black Cats great was radar.

    Sorry Phil.
We purchased 265 Catalinas you say ! !

    That figure seems really high.
We’ve never been cashed up enough to purchase that many of any big military item have we ?

I know Perth had a Cat base on the Swan River during WW2 but I imagine most were owned and flown by US forces ?

Seems plausible - the RNZAF had at least 56.

When I was in the Army, many, many years ago I used to love watching the Caribou's taking off and landing on some really short runways out bush and be thinking I'd hate to be in the back of that thing :lol3

I reckon a few noobs would need a change of undies:lol3

Seeing this reminded me of a time, long ago, walking in hills somewhere in Wales. My friend forgot to mention that the RAF used this particular valley for low level training - amazing, but almost needed new undies!

I came out of the control building at Gordon power station years ago, heard a slight hum and looked over the lake to see two FA18’s screaming across it chucking up huge rooster tails, they lifted slightly, rolled over the dam wall and thundered up the ravine. Scared seven shits outta me, cool as. Don’t reckon they do that anymore, the station op reckoned it was a regular occurrence, if whinging self-entitled prats can get on the news complaining about a C130 flying near buildings in Bris cos it “reminded them of 9-11” imagine what a bunch of wool caps would make of that.

@Dr AT , I assume you are a practicing GP, if not, sorry in advance and feel free to ignore. Equally, if you feel that to respond may be detrimental, I understand.

I got a letter from Medicare today related to another matter and it included a note about the "My Health Record" - is this what you refer to above as "the govt ehealth system"? I thought I'd see what the google monster had to say, not surprising this is being slammed.

Just wondering what your view is as a user of the system? One concern is that the information is in summary. Of course, the security of the data is also a big concern.

Mods, I hope this topic is OK? If not, please nuke or send instructions to the same effect.

I got into my ehealth record and deleted everything. I'm not interested in my info being sold to drug companies.

FFS, they couldn't even get my address right....it was completely wrong - like 2000 km away wrong...

This is from the team that bought you the census debacle....

You're in the off topic thread. So long as we don't go down a CSM rabbithole I am fine with your question.

    Cheers.
