I have had that thought myself.
Re diesel utes and DPF etc. I'm going to need to replace my (mechanically injected) TD ute soon and after hearing all the horror stories re DPF I'm wondering if I can just hang on a bit longer until the majors start offering petrol powered utes. Seeing Europe is going to stop using diesel anyway I'm guessing/hoping that they will start offering petrol donks soon (none of them currently do in a 4wd ute). I no longer need to carry tools and tow tool trailers so I can't see any advantages any longer in having a diesel powered ute. I will occasionally tow a camper or a trailer with a moto on it but my days of lugging heavy loads up and down mountains are over.
Modern diesel motors are probably more complex to service than a petrol motor and certainly won't be cheaper to service. Mileage might still be marginally better.
Besides the fact that there's currently none available is there a problem with my plan?
