If I have the time, I usually play along with them, for the verbal ones that is.
Can have some mindless fun with them.
I see it as i am holding them up from calling somebody else, though as has been pointed out at me, they are trying to make a living.
Sure, but when they call about the building I am living in, and solar panels, they need to get their info right, I dont own the building I live in and it already has solar panels on it.

    Or varients like that

or when they say about the computer and windows......
either I am looking at the windows, nice frames and slide well, or I am using an apple......

I am sure you can figure out the rest

    Well, I wasn’t very original.
Someone else here wrote the same and since I agreed wholeheartedly with their comment, I plagiarised. :D

My reply in the first green box seemed to reach the sender, the second time I received (in red) “failed to deliver”.
Those words are now missing from the second green boxed reply in my screen shot below, but the green bar across the top is signifying it hasn’t been fully delivered.

I’d like to explain I have turned into a grumpy old man, but that is not true.
I have always disliked loud, unnecessary exhausts and unwanted political advertisements ! :rofl

I have since taken Warin’s advice and blocked the number, so unless they somehow keep changing the source number, I should be okay.

They call about my internet having a problem, so I ask what name is on the account they're calling about, they hang up.

A couple of years back when scam calls claiming to be from Microsoft telling me my computer has a virus were all the go, I got a call from Raj, I strung him along for a while, he told me he was in Silicon Valley, California. a bit more small talk then I launched into my spiel including his ancestry, his parents marital status, the size of his penis etc, and a suggestion of incestuous sodomy using pork fat as a lubricant ending with a short lesson on auto cloning. Unfazed, Raj told me that as an IT professional he he didn't wish to be spoken to like that and if I continued he'd report me to his supervisor. When I went on to describe his supervisor using similar terms he hung up. Rude prick.

... if I receive a call from an obvious multi linguist, and English being their 2nd language at least, I ALWAYS congratulate them on their above-average-IQ , encouraging them to look around themselves at their call centre, pointing out that, compared to all the other dregs there - THEY really seem to have the stuff to amount to becoming supervisor and should not be satisfied with a lowly cold caller position. Maybe even the stuff to become an Admiral or such ... :D

If I could be bothered when getting a scam call, and they ask how I am, I reply with something like I'm not great and thinking of killing myself, then continue with a couple of scenarios, like razoring wrists, exhaust pipe from the car in a sealed garage, jumping off a cliff, etc and then ask what they think. Can be entertaining for a few minutes.

Other times they might introduce themselves as 'Fred' from Telstra or wherever and I'll challenge them. That's not your real name, you're not from there etc, and accuse them of lying, and that its not a great way to start a relationship if they want to build trust to get my $s etc.

    It can be fun :freaky

If the scam caller sounds like they come from the subcontinent, the best way to get them off topic & distracted is to tell them how crap their country is at playing cricket...

I set myself time challenges when they call.
The best I’ve achieved is keeping them on the line for 1 hr 23 mins including their supervisor who came to take over!
