I’m still waiting on a small parcel, a couple of credit card holders, I think coming from Singapore, maybe, no idea really, but the estimate was delivery last week.
Got it 2 days ago. Nearly 3 months to get here. Not as bad as 'back in the day' 12 months for a big end for my Duke 750 Sport to come from Italy !
What this thread has highlighted is the total inconsistency of Australia Post deliveries. I can (partially) understand the excuses of Covid lockdowns affecting deliveries and the very obvious increase in online parcel shopping. But I would expect the flow of mail to customers to be better organised. That’s the expected reason (senior) management get the big bucks and the gift watches. But we are constantly hearing of stuff taking weeks to travel 30kms and at other times parcels arriving fairly promptly from much, much further away. The impression I have, as I sit on my comfy chair and think of things to complain about (loud pipes, etc ) is not of a well oiled, modern operating organisation, but more of a shambolic, cobbled together business that would seem more at home in a tinpot, coup ridden African country.
Agreed, however, I'll add from my observations, using post daily for business and personal: Normal mail $1 postage, dont bother trying even across melb suburbs. 5 Weeks from pensinsula/ metro to eastern suburbs. 45kms straight line, I couldve walked there and back in 4 days ffs. Express post, same mailing and delivery address? 3 days max, but often overnight (inconsistent 'express' obviously) Parcels/packages? who knows. Some take days interstate, some weeks same state. Tracking shows parcels posted in Melb to me go interstate for sorting then back again. I could be cynical and say clearly, normal mail is low profit and therefore low priority, as directed by the top of Aust Post so they can maximise profits and pay themselves bonuses and give pats on the back all round. Maybe reduced staffing, more online shopping, cost cutting all come into it too. But at the end of the day, we pay more, and get less. I find it hard to believe the bosses of public utilities are paid more than the PM of this country, but it seems apparent all the directors do are run a utility into the ground, strip costs, shaft staff, and feather their own nest.
The reason they do this is because they are specifically chosen to do just that by the PM of the day. If you are trying to suggest that it is a fault of supposed "socialist policies", au contraire - it is capitalism run rife.
Does it come with colours Tank bag posted Wednesday gold coast arrived friday brisbane northside . Right now they would rather put 2 ppl in one big white thing than use there quickest method . The old way 2 dangerous get rid off them . Given a lot of casuals and foriegn employment agency ppl work atm . Kind of like watching those old buildings get demolished from the inside Bleeding $$$ , next front up will be a good watch .
Ordered off eBay and AP delivered the parcel a week later (Monday this week). I'm pretty happy with that given the current circumstances. Last night I received an email from eBay offering me a $5 voucher in compensation for the late delivery Given the delivery wasn't what I would call late I was reluctant to click on the attachment as I figured it must be spam, but no it's real. As it was only a $15 item, an unexpected 33% discount seems pretty good to me.
Just checked. Watsonia, near Melbourne Victoria to Brisbane Qld. Sent in Express Post prepaid parcel envelope. Ordered a watch off eBay at 2.17pm on Wednesday. Found in my letterbox at about 12.15 on Thursday, might have arrived earlier. Less than 22 hours. that’s gotta be a record when you include the buyers handling time, as it was a private sale. Amazing.
so a order put in this morning 23/11 email 5pm same date saying expect delivery between 24--26/11 syd------------wollongong so will see how this goes
