    That would be awesome!

I'll be happy just to watch, if someone happens to offer a ride along, I couldn't say no!

no you gotta be proactive - ask everyone for a ride. I will let anyone ride along with me, unless they smell bad or talk too much.

jaglite - that's nuts! I can't believe autocross is all the way up in anchorage. truly a national sport haha

I regret not doing this when I had the chance. I was stationed in Hawaii in the late 80's and had a VW Rabbit with mad suspension mods... springs, shocks & struts, sway bars, stress bars, wheels & tires. Stock engine & wide-ratio 4-speed, but the car cornered like it was on rails.

The SCCA chapter in Honolulu ran Solo I and Solo II cone-course races in the Aloha Stadium parking lot once a month or so. I went to watch a few times, but never entered. Then I sold the car and moved on to vintage Mustangs and dirt bikes.

But that Rabbit would have been a hoot.

Yep. And... I lived there for three years and didn't learn SCUBA.

I'm cool. I don't have a lot of regrets. I had a dirtbike there, I still have it and the Mustang, I learned to surf, and I did the Banzai Pipeline. Not a lot of East Coast guys can say that.

I did learn from that though. When I want to do something, I make good plans and then do it. I'd rather have credit card debt than regrets about things I wish I'd have done.

I did learn SCUBA years later, and have a lot of great dives, just not in Hawaii. Yet. :jkam

    Enjoy your trip. Aloha!

Take the mustang and enter an event or two. There is a class called CAM (Classic American Muscle) in SCCA. A guy in our club runs a 69 firebird. Also hill climbs it.

Got the rocker arms for the trailer built. These things may look simple but they took for freaking ever to build. Don't judge my welding too harshly. I pretty much learn as I go.

I hit a major milestone today, getting all of the suspension mocked up. Everything moves pretty nice and free. I can pull up in the axle end of the swingarm and compress the suspension almost an inch (wheel travel) do it's already accomplished one of my goals of having softer suspension than the harbor freight trailers. Try moving the suspension by hand on one of those things and they barely budge. When you just see the bare frame it looks massive, but start loading the boxes, tires, etc onto it and suddenly the proportions look perfect! It looks like it's exactly the size it should be.

I had never been to an autocross event until Saturday. One was scheduled at a local car event. So we entered the "Boat Truck" so named as it was a seemingly never ending money pit to restore.

This truck was purchased for the purpose of hauling small displacement knobby clad motorcycles to distant locations; however, history shows it was produced to compete in the SCCA ITT class back in the '80s. So after transporting bikes the weekend before, hauling landscaping waste the other evening, why should it not be entered in an autocross event?

I took a 17 year SCCA veteran driver for a ride around the course and learned a lot in a 41 second lesson. I got faster as the day progressed. Learned more about me as the truck would out preform my limited skill level. Just a wonderful day!!!
