Well I sure hope I find the Kootenay's more to my liking as I've made the commitment and will shortly be on my way!! Where I live in the lower mainland has the condo's near my doorstep, ruining my peaceful acreage, but I guess that is progress?? Going to try something else before I get too old to move! Cheers
That's the spirit! Hope it works...........not quite Yemen, the Mog or Beirut yet, but YA.......best to stay safe and stay away ! Oh and I hear that Covid is rampant there - touching and breathing is to be avoided! Almost forgot - do not trust the locals there - I have heard banjo's playin 24/7 when ever I have been forced the sneak thru the area! Hope this WARNING helps borscht.
Exactly right, with one exception. Those weren’t banjo’s. Far worse I’m afraid. What you heard were balalaika‘s playing.
I have lived in the East and West Kootenay's most of my sorted life except for a stint in Edmonton for school and calgary for a short work term. Kootenays have everything I want or need and I have never regretted living here. Easy access to all kinds of out door recreation, amazing riding dirt and tarmac. Reasonable housing, comparatively to the Okanogan and the Lower mainland. Just my $.02
you gotta like the heat to live in Osoyoos. and not have a fear of rattle snakes. i would imagine the health care is suspect, as well - one would have to travel to Kelowna - and get in line at a walk in clinic. Penticton has a walk in - it's pretty hokey. good luck finding a Dr. - unless things have changed significantly since we tucked our tails and ran for cover.
Scary indeed!!!!!! - I think i have seen one of those instruments........ ....they lul you into a trance and after reassignment and hormone therapy in one of the Q-ootenay camps, you wake up in one of these...... Ya, just best to stay away!
........it is all about ONES lack-of-perspective and sense of humour, no? Ok, Ok, I will be more helpful seeing as I am scouting out various environments right now. Look at this 5 acre find for $749,000 just east of Q-somewhere BC. For anyone who is retirement dreaming and is not afraid of hearing the balalaika‘s tune! That is the only hint I am going to give away just yet!
it's my thread. if i choose to share some hard earned knowledge, that's my prerogative. the sunshine and lollipops thread is elsewhere
DARN! You guessed it! I made it too easy with the Q, right? That little creek on the left side of the property runs right out into the ocean. Keep it to yourself, now!
I was thinking I found Nirvana, but after spending 2 weeks already trying to pack my shop, I'm wondering WTF I have done. I'm not sure if I am in east or west Qootenay, but if you are like any of my buddy's, once I get the shop up to snuff, you will probably want to spend lots of time in it! Cheers
Yup, great skiing; resort, backcountry and cross country, MTN biking in the summer all out your doorstep practically, beautiful uncrowded lakes, dual Sport riding in every direction, incredible hiking ( take a drive and hike up kokanee park) fantastic and entertaining highways. True you can't get a double latte half sweet caramel coffee on every corner but I can live with that. Now I have to get back to my sunshine and lollipop. Kootenay haters
