It’s going on everywhere. Houses here are setting record sales and selling over asking by thousands. Apparently buyers are even waiving building inspection frequently as the panic to buy sets in. It’s an exodus from the lower mainland.

Our house sold in Cloverdale within a week, and that was just after New Years. It sold for over asking price and no inspection. Lots of offers also.
We bought in December and I think it was just before the frenzy started??
Only a couple of more weeks and then we will leave the lower mainland. It's going to be interesting as I have never lived in a smaller town, but have always wanted to.

    Cheers

Best of luck on your move and adjustment to small town, rural living. I moved from Oak Bay to Castlegar. It did require an adjustment. In fact, it was a culture shock at first. In hindsight, it was a good move.

Well you saw how it is ...

In Chilliwack construction is booming and it sells soon after, an exodus from the big city yes ... but don’t see a crash as we are the best place to live in this country and perhaps the entire world.

Sales are brisk all over BC. I lived in Chilliwack for a couple months and it didn't appeal to me to buy there.

I saw a pass through window of how it was. It seemed nice but again my hour or two, off the hwy visit there obviously doesn't reflect what living there is like.

I've heard it called "The Wack", meant as: It's wacked. YMMV ;)

It’s funny. Retired for two weeks and it occurred. Retirement sounds like being put out to pasture, if not being put out of the Igloo. So I’m calling it EDAS! Every Days a Saturday. Kinda has a ring to it too! :clap:happay

    See Borscht is liking it.

We have family in the area so that helps but the outdoors are at your doorstep.

The way I see it the Island, Fraser Valley or Okanagan are the places to retire. They all have winter enough for me !

thought he said Chilliwack River ;)

We basically get 1 month of winter, the rest of the time you can hike, kayak, cycle, fish, and of course motorcycle!

insurance is less than greater Vancouver and gas cheaper but big city close enough for concerts and sports. Hope nearby for those Okanagan getaways ... and services increasing every year for those who value that.

Winters are hell here and last through June. Have to chain up from Sept to June. Then the bugs come out.

My backyard. We have to mix a little deet in our Borscht just so we can take out the garbage.

You did know that the meaning of Kootenay is “place of bug fog” didn’t you?

Listen to the Borscht wisdom - stay away from THAT bug infested, climatically challenged & resulting inbred (look at those weird toes - they photoshopped out toes 6 & 7 on each foot just to make it look more "normal". It is a low iron and missing gene hell hole!

Daryl and his other bother Daryl live in this area! Drooling is a coping mechanism.
