The slide is south of Oliver from what I am seeing on the news. Our route should be ok as we are not using the highway or going south of Oliver. Cross your fingers. Last year forest fires, this year landslides.
Folkinride, I'm heading out from Calgary Thurs AM. Probably not TOO early as I may have a few things to pick up but I'd be happy to have someone to ride with. I'm on a DR650 so I will be maxing out at 120kmh and more prone to follow the speed limits. If you like to ride slowish, shoot me a note! Chris.
Will be riding down from Revelstoke friday morning. Looking forward to seeing everyone at 8am friday in Nakusp. Anyone wishing to camp for free in Revelstoke is welcome to use my yard, but it is above the train station... There are two very good restaurants within walking distance of the super 8 motel in revy. Zalas steakhouse, for good solid meals and the Nomad diner for very good take out and burgers and such, but the nomad has no liquor licence. The Grizzly pub downtown is OK too. The Elks motel in Keromeos has lost my Reservation so anyone looking for a roomie give me a shout. Cheers
I'll be in Revelstoke Thursday night. I'm planning to make the 7:00 am ferry at Shelter bay on Friday morning.
But I was planning on coming up 97 on Thursday from south of Seattle. I'll call PacWestGS to see what he is planning now as well. We both live just a few mile apart. In reading through the news report this afternoon, looks like there is just a short detour around the slide. (whew...was thinking some hundreds of miles).
If any of u were lusting over a pair of Rallye 2 Pro GS gloves (size 11-11.5) drop me a pm before I leave....
Great gloves, but I already have two pair, each with over 500-miles of Baja dust and Manzinita strikes thrown in. Someone should buy these from you!
Probably not much wider than a fully loaded GSA with metal bags. I don't think that there is any single track on the BCBTR at all. Not really fitting with the spirit of the ride. If he comes though, he may become the tanker to hold extra fuel for all the smaller bikes
Still some space for those of you interested in participating in PacWest's off-road training camp this Thursday in Nakusp. Check: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13202573#post13202573 And please let me know ASAP if you want in. Only got room for a few (hundred) spots!
Like Bora20 says, no single track. The spirit of the ride is to have a weekend of easy to moderate scenic gravel and some twisty paved roads that blend together so riders of all skill levels on big fat dual sports can have fun.
Any idea what the maximum distance between fuel stops is? I'd prefer not to be 'that guy' that keeps running out :eek1 . Thanks! Chris.
Day 1 could be the longest section if Trout Lake doesn't have it's pump operating. The distance would be about 180 kms from Kalso to Nakusp if that was the case. If the Trout Lake pump is open, it is only about 105 kms. The other longest sections are about 125 kms.
Ah, thanks a lot. No worries then. I'm used to being the guy with the smallest tank so I'm always worried about fuel.
I will be heading out from Seattle tomorrow after work (4ish). I plan to stay in Winthrop, WA Wednesday Night and plan to be in Nakusp around lunch time. If anyone is going this way we can meet up and ride together. Also Ross said it will be best if we break up in small groups to ride. So I am looking for others that like to stop to take pictures and take their time. If anyone is interest we can form a riding group. See you all Friday morning. Cheers Drew
