When I went through Trout Lake in September 2009 and went to the Windsor Hotel the kitchen was not open and the place was up for sale.

The gravity-fed gas pump at the general store was still working though:

When I stopped by there in mid August this year there wasn't much sign of life in the hotel. Neat to see as I understand the King George stayed there (?). I only took a pic of the general store in Trout Lake however I believe the gas pumps are still functional and are the old gravity feed style where the gas fills up the glass bottle at the top etc. Going south out of Trout Lake I had to put on the binders for a female and her two cubs which were crossing the road.....jet black! :eek1

The first BCBTR stopped at the Windsor Hotel for lunch.

Manxman - My knee has healed to point where I once again can use my rear brake so please put me on the probable list - rooms are booked.
From the reports from last year I am hoping the weather improves!!

I'm just wondering what the procedure is for booking rooms for BTR5. I understand the hotels have been notified, but not much more. Are we booking individually?

    Thanks,

I wanted to make it as easy as possible so I suggest a motel (phone #s in the first post) in each town we are stopping at and give their phone #. I stay at these motels, and the ride starts at them each morning. Some will choose a different motel or camp though which is fine.

The only difference is the Elks Motel on Saturday night. Hopefully riders will stay there or at the other motel across the street (Apline Motel Ph# 1-877-499-5244) because there will likely be some adult beverages consumed at the BBQ and that means no riding afterwards.

I"m still thinking about it. Hmm if I spooned on a fresh rear tire before I left the SE might make it back before I burned it down to nothing.....

Toss a scorp on there, they do better on gravel roads then I would have guessed and that mileage is no problem.

For people who are camping the Nakusp Municipal Campground is a good spot. It is walking distance to town, very handy especially if you like to enjoy adult beverages at the local pubs. Reservations can probably be made http://www.nakuspcampground.com/

Hey Rob, I went last year with a new set of TKCs still liooking new when I got home. Got about 11K before tossing the rear. Mind you, I believe high speed slab riding kills these tires but I know that is not you :rofl .

Hope you can go this year :clap .

I guess I should have also asked what the usual starting times are for brekkie & getting on the ride. I'm usually OK for anytime, just need to know, thanks

Starting last year, the ride is no longer a group ride where everyone blasts off at the same time. Because of the number of riders, we form up into smaller groups, then depart and ride at whatever pace works for that group.

On the Friday morning, I will be giving out detailed route instructions from 7am to 8 am. The instructions will cover all three days so everyone can leave at whatever time they feel is right for them. Below is an example from last years route sheets to give you an idea of what they are like.

These sheets are sized to fit into a large tank bag window. Hopefully at least one in each group has a tankbag that the sheets will fit into.

The routes look great! I'm going to try to make this work this year... it'll probably be at the last minute. While I don't have "the only acceptable excuse", the new baby will only be one month old. So leaving Mom with the new baby and a 3 year old may be pushing it.

For some reason I can't find the dates for the big event?
(Please forgive me, I have been hit in the head many times as a kid. I guess I should have been wearing a helmet more often).

Awsome pic! Now are we going up that road or down? If it's gravel I hope it's up....hahahaha. I hate it when I snow plow off the curve downhill..
