    B.C. BIG TRAILIE RIDE
    JUNE 23-24-25 2006

You are invited to ride thru some of southern B.C.'s best roads on a route designed with the V-stroms, Tigers, GS's and the other big dual sports in mind.

Friday June 23rd. Start at Princeton, follow the route of twisty pavement and scenic gravel backroads to Kelowna where we stay at the Kelowna Motor Inn.

Saturday June 24th. After breakfast we leave Kelowna and travel up the east side of Mable Lake, sail on the Galena Bay ferry, and stop at the historic Windsor Hotel for refreshments. Continue along Trout Lake to Kaslo and stay at the Kaslo Motel.

Sunday June 25th. Leave Kaslo early to ride the Valley of the Ghosts Highway (you may want to ride this road more than once) to Nakusp for another ferry crossing at Fauquier en route to Westwold, where we ride thru the Douglas Lake Ranch, and finish up the ride in Merritt were we head off home.

See post #183 for route maps. (there has been some minor changes since it was posted, but it will give you the general idea of this ride)
See post #156 for motel booking information.
For more info contact DR650bc or Manxman

Ya - My favorite country. I ride by Mable Lake or south of Revelstoke every time I go to Kelowna. Hey... Last year I tried I FSR that left Slocan? and headed NW up to Fauquier. About 30 km in I came to an intersection with a sign posted that said the bridge was out 40 km ahead (would have been 30 km? SE of Fauquier) Do you know if that road is open? It would complete my southern off-HWY route to Kelowna

    Thanks
    Stand Up aka Brian L.
That's just what Wayne and Wim were talking about

If I'm back from West Virginia in time I'll stop by on my way home. I'd love to learn more about some of the back roads of BC :clap

OK folks - listen up good. - why ? - because this trip will likely be one of the BEST ever. Manxman has laid out a fantastic route and explained it in our typical Canadian low-key fashion. Thumpers are welcome but the knarly stuff is avoided on this trip.

To keep youall properly teased up, we will post pics from time to time taken on the route from previous trips. The trip is scheduled before the kids are finished school for the summer so the traffic should be lighter than midsummer. The route will take us through mountains, desert, wine country, lake country and real good ole ranch country.

So - ------ here we go
corkscrew road from Hedley to Apex Alpine Ski area:D

The idea was to include some sporty paved riding in the route as well as gravel roads, which might not appeal to a small bore d/sport rider quite as much. But anyone is welcome.:freaky

See you in Princeton on the 23rd.

I'd love to see more of it...I'll hoist a Moleson to this one.
Keep those great pics comin'. I think an F-650 Dakar should be OK.

I've actually ridden that first twisty gravel stretch.....two up....on a Z1000. Yeah, it was painful, but still fun.

I would like to join you guys on this ride. I just sold my LC4 640 and bought a 950 Adventure, so I have to learn to play with the Big Boys, The routes you have picked are routes that I wanted to go on this year anyway, so this sounds like it is going to be a excellent ride. I will keep in touch.
