Thanks for the beautiful pix and story. I cared for my first Wife while she battled cancer. The interludes of motorcycle riding kept me sane and helped me to be a better caregiver, for sure.

Worked my way down the Alaska Highway and was back in Dawson Creek. Interesting -

Now what? Go home? I didn't have time to go to Alaska but I still have a few extra days. Decide to ride south to Jasper and Banff National Parks.
During the ride south there were miles of construction and of course rain. During the two lane parts, with the dirt on the road and the rain, passing trucks are throwing a mud spray. Had to stop a few times to clean my glasses. Maybe I should have gone home. :lol3

Find a hotel and the next day it will be an early start for a ride to Jasper N.P. Get up and walk over to the hotel restaurant, need food and coffee.
The restaurant is still closed, disappointed I leave.
There is a lot of fog but its starting to lift, hopefully it will be a nice day.

    Lookin' good!

    Green lake?

I see a sign for the Jasper Lodge. They will have food and coffee!!

    Wow! Nice place!

I find the restaurant and a waiter.

    "Can I have a menu?"
    "You don't need a menu"
    "I don't?"
    "No, you want the buffet"
    "I do?"
"Yes, it will have everything you want and more, I'll get your coffee."

This guy should sell cars but he is right, this is good!
After I finish he brings me a box and says "here fill it with desserts, you might be hungry later." I do. Wow.

Now I'm ready! It is turning out to be a very nice day. There would be 300 miles of mountain roads, snow cover mountains, glaciers, waterfalls and jade green lakes and rivers.

Spent a week in the area last July. You had better weather in Jasper and Ice fields parkway, we had rain, could not see any mountain tops. If you get back in the area the road to Radium Hot Springs should be very enjoyable on a bike. Thanks for the ride report.

One of park staff was telling me how lucky I was to have a nice day, said they had a lot of rain and was way over average. Tells me "if you would have been here yesterday you would have had rain". I did have a nice day.

Great to see you on another trip and glad the crash wasn't more serious causing you and/or the bike to be unable to proceed. Best of luck in caring for yourself and the Mrs. I can only imagine the challenges for you both, God Bless.

Great read, Steve! Your reports are always the best. Perfect mix of photos, humor and experience! Glad you were able to make the trip, and power through all the bad. I really want to make it up that way some day...

I am lucky, on the two days that really mattered to me I had good weather. The day in Tuk and the Icefields ride.

    The ride home.

The windshield is still providing some protection, it's just moving air to the left. The Cyclops tire pressure monitor worked well and did add some piece of mind on the gravel travel. It broke off in the crash, still works but will need a new mounting bracket. Everything else is working.

I had been chasing rain across Canada and was close to catching it when I stopped in Weyburn. I would catch it again in Minnesota.

I had an easy border crossing. There were insanely high winds in North Dakota.
I stopped at a ND wayside to take a break and it looked like they also had rain. Had a lot of standing water.

A lot of quick moving storms in Minnesota.

Stopped for the night in northwest Wisconsin. The next morning I only had a 330 mile ride to get home.

And I'm home!! July 11th. The little DL got me home.

The cleanup, maintenance and repairs are going well. Some new, straighter parts have been installed and the rest has been ordered.

Thanks for sharing the pics and stories of another of your great adventures. Glad you weren't badly hurt but it's still important to pay attention to any lingering effects.

I'm kinda liking the look of your stripped down Strom. Hmmm, gives me ideas about mine...

Any thoughts on the strom to share? You have setup a number of long distance bikes, how was this one for this trip vs your others?

I think its going to be okay, just waiting for a headlight panel and it will be ready to go again.

Thank you! Feeling good, elbow is sore but only if I try to lean on it. I think I was lucky.
