I've debated writing this while driving back home today. :twitch Should I? Or should not I? :scratch I've written plenty of Baja stories, but maybe another one is worthwhile....but hopefully, I won't be writing alone.

As has been the usual lately, a great deal of professional issues have conspired to keep me from being where I wanted to be. Unusual? Perhaps not, except that I am gainfully unemployed - but that is another story. I pined to be on the bike, traveling and exploring, rather than watching the dreary procession of winter.

Yet, another scenario allowed me to end up in Baja, and I bit hard to get a another Baja fix. Once you've been there, you'll know what I mean. Those that have traveled the nether regions of Baja know why I am always going back.

As fate would have it, the group ended up coalescing in Calexico, for a few beers, and the next thing you know, a ride broke out, and into Baja we went.

I'm going to hold up here for a bit to let the others catch up/synchronize.

But I'll give y'all a teaser or two.....

Slide? You betcha - gaspipe on a borrowed XR650R....

    "...Out of nowhere
    And the background's fading
    Out of focus
    Yes the picture's changing
    Every moment
    And your destination
    You don't know it.."

This trip started for me back in October at Meathead's soiree, shortly after this pic was taken.

Bruce came to me and said, "Why don't you quit your job and go to Baja with us this winter?" Are you friggin' kidding me? I started penning my resignation in my Pyrat soaked head right then, though that proved to be unnecessary. I knew it was going to be great. Now that it's done, I know that I underestimated how great it would be.

Preparations began almost immediately to get the little 450exc touring worthy. Gotta work some now since I didn't quit, but I'll add more later.

Ok, a little more. Soon the plan was set. Leebob, Kenny and Matt (from cyclecrazy) would pick me up in the throbbing metropolis of Friendsville on 1/23 and we would set out to hook up with Bruce in Phoenix. Loading up was uneventful, and we were soon on our way. By the time we got to Memphis we were thinking a man's gotta eat. So we stopped in to Jim Neely's Interstate Barbeque for a good meal. This wasn't my meal, way too much for me since I'm a tiny thing compared to these guys.

    HMMMM, barbeque spaghetti.

Turns out by the time we crossed Arkansas, all that barbeque had completed it's trip, so we had to let Leebob out for a minute.

Seems like our diet was having some ill effects on big Kenny too, but it helped with a flat on the trailer.

About 34 hours after leaving Friendsville, one of the countries best comedy teams was reunited in Phoenix. They crack themselves up at least :D

After being the recipient of great hospitality from Killer, we were off the next morning to Calexico, and our final prep for the border crossing on monday.

We chipped in and got a new top box for Bruce. It's the new touratech Gaspipe model.

    More in a bit.

What a coincidence. I'm on the island of Anguilla right now - that's where they make the Pyrat Rum you were drinking. I've got a Mojito in front of me right now.

OK. Sorry for the kidnap. Proceed with your tales of adventure...
