I've stayed at the Hotel El Portal Inn, right on Hwy 2 (towards the east side of the town). Reasonable hotel for Baja, and would stay there again.

I've been planning this ride for months and was supposed to leave Wednesday morning. This morning my riding partners backed out, I guess they are worried there will be no TP left in Mexico. :D I guess I need to find another way to spend my 2 weeks off.

There will be plenty of TP in Baja. Ride to Cabo, keep it mild when riding solo.

Baja was dangerous last week. We were accosted by tons of spiders at night, annoying winds, and allergy causing flowers. I would not recommend a visit until it is safe again and the pesos values improve against the U.S. Dollar. :bluduh

I did my first ride into Mexico solo for 7 days and it was great. I don't know a lick of Spanish (I'm now trying to learn) and everything worked out fine. I had some trepidation and told myself that if I didn't feel comfortable, I'd just turn around. Turns out I didn't have a second of feeling uncomfortable. People were great, very helpful.

Not trying to influence your decision, but I would think Baja would even be better/easier for solo riding.

I was there a couple weeks ago and was viciously attacked by dogs, everywhere.

At this point I would recommend that you stay home. Mexico is starting to implement restrictions. We were stopped at a State police check point on the highway today and had our temperature checked. Large gatherings are banned an Score just postponed the 250. Things will get worse before they get better.

The financial impacts will be bad. But if this virus spreads in Baja it will quickly overwhelm the healthcare system. Especially considering the health of normal adult Mexicans and the senior gringo population.

We live in interesting times. I fear they may become even more interesting.

(If you do come, watch out for the large quantities of Canadian RVs speeding north.)

Just crossed back after being there since October. It's shutting down quickly. Easy crossing at Tecate this morning. I was taking the off road adventure bike route so missed most of the check points.
In SD now trying to find storage for the bike so I can fly back to AK

Just found this on facebook. Punta San Francisquito is closed during the virus. Google or check your resources. Might save somebody being stranded without gas.

I spy a Kato bike! He is a great guy to ride Baja with. Is the KDX from SD too?

Good eye! That is indeed the ATK that just won't die. In fact, just rode with Kato in Anza-Borrego a couple weeks ago.

The KDX lives in out in the Coachella Valley.

You and I have run into each other on Compadre and then later at Cal's. I'm usually on an old XR.

The last time I was there we got gas at the other ranch north of the air field, at Puerto de San Francisquito.

I've done a few trips in the last 4 weeks, now is the time to explore Baja! Easy border crossings, limited traffic, excellent exchange rate, cheaper petrol....etc. etc. Don't listen to the media.

Plus, the recent rains are making all the wildflowers bloom and the cacti is getting fatter!

:thumbupSo tempting....We were supposed to start a 10-day run down to a friends place in Los Barriles next week. I bet the central section of Baja is just spectacular right now.

    Don’t listen to the Media.

    Listen to the Virus !

Listen to Mexico they don’t want us bringing the COVID19 down there.

Baja doesn’t have the medical facilities to handle any epidemic. Medical facilities are often 60 - 100 miles apart.

    RESPECT !
