Nice stuff. Did you ride through San Rafael at all? Wondered if anyone has taken over Pancho's casa viego (?)

I am about half way to Catavina and I run into a new fence!
Trying to figure out what to do and the rancher shows up, draws a rough map in the dirt.
Got to head south and it adds about 25 miles to my loop, really worried about gas now.

We ran into that gate last year, now we have the work around. We ended up ridding the last two hours of that trail in the dark last year, looking forward to getting it done in the day light this year. Very cool pictures, you should post some in the why we love Baja picture thread!

Did you head south or find a way around heading north?
It got dark the last hour.
Ran out of gas 6 miles from the highway, the tank holds a little extra gas on the right side tipped bike over and made it to Catavina with a 1/2" of gas left.
145 miles on 3.2 gallons, was in 6th gear at 30 mph for last 50 miles trying to make it.
My motto is use "All the Gas and All the daylight" that was cutting it close!

If you stay in the canyon behind the San Carlos Mesa, don’t turn east thru the “no motos” ranch, then you’ll end up on top of the San Carlos Mesa. Head east, and hit the Cactus Garden trail going south. I’ve gotta good buddy who knows the rancher, so we get to ride thru the No Moto Rancho. Super cool RR! We missed ya by a few days.

That is some seriously kick arse scenery and riding, nothing like single track through cacti and other plants where missing a line will involve some real pain :eek7

Great set of updates to the report, and glad you were able to make it to Catavina - that's cutting it close...lol.

Awesome pics man, and the captures from your GoPro are really sweet. Likely have been great video, but the still images allow the imagination to go on what it'd be like riding through that landscape :thumb :thumb

This is how we did it, worked out good. We bought gas at the ranch where you come off of the trail onto the dirt road before you head back on the single track. My light was on and I knew I wouldn't make it, two of our group ran out and we had to gas up in Catavina and head back out, 11PM before we got back. Lesson learned!

Just past the ranch where you turn left into the wash we ran into some fishermen that sold us two gallons at $20 dollars a gallon! It was a deal at that price because I didn't have to walk. Keep the report coming...

    Full service gas stop. 20181123_081001.jpg
Ran into Will from Arkansas, he's riding to Cabo and back for 3 weeks, so we decided to ride together for 2-1/2 days.
He's young and will try anything.
We will take some good single track!

40 miles of highway to Chapala Dry lake, we cross it to some good single track thru the hills heading to the start of window rock.
