Day 5- I wake up not feeling well, and have a long ride planned!
I turn 56 years old today, and am feeling it.
Will who I have been riding with is 25 yrs old. Were both on the same mission here and age does not seem to matter at all, we got along great.
He has been a great riding partner but halfway thru the day he heads south to Cabo and I start back north.

This is the start of the 22 day trail from Bay of La on the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific Ocean about 75 miles.
The 1st part is open and nice and flowing.

Great video and so cool to celebrate your b-day down there doing what you're doing! I'm making my way toward 50 right now, good on you for riding on your b-day and doing so down there. I think that's effin' killer :thumb

Damn, that was proper bush-wacking there. Not that there was an alternative (lol), but nice job making it around those cliffs and back onto the track. Did you have to contend with deep sand on the rest of the trek? Looks like a great time out in the desert, frickin' tiring though.

Cool vid, want to go back to Baja :D

The 22 day trail crosses Hwy 1 about 3/4 across the peninsula, we run about 5 miles down the hwy to get gas and some food.
Still not feeling well and did not eat much, so I decided I would head north here to Gonzaga Bay and let Will continue on.
I crossed the Chapla Dry Lake and ended up on an old worn 2 track thru the mountains.

    20181125_143901.jpg

But some storm washed the trail out! at the bottom.
    20181125_151453.jpg

And I thought this would be an easy way to Gonzaga Bay!

Day 6- Gonzaga Bay, I love Baja.
Plan is to head up the Hwy for 35 miles and then jump on the beach for 50 miles.

    Great photo above!

Ha ha, Mine Road, "the easy way to Gonzaga Bay" just keeps getting rougher with each big rain.

Change of plans, the hwy has some major damage- where bridges tie into land 50' of road has washed away.
They have built temporary roads around the washouts maybe 5 to 10, the road was brand new I was down last Christmas on KTM 1190R and the road was perfect, like an autobahn 2 lanes each direction.
I decide to head inland up Matome wash that feeds all this destruction to check it out.
Good thing I had packed an extra gallon of gas, about 110 mile loop off road to San Felipe from where i turn in.

Nothing cooler than going up a untracked wash after a storm, like the first one down a powder run skiing!

Frickin' awesome picture @DEVO46! What a cool place to get to. And yeah - imagine the sound of a flood coming through those narrows would be incredible. Like Mother Nature's freight train.

I have been there up above when you could have white water rafted through there in easily a class 4 rapid! We were prerunning for the San Felipe 250 in '06 when it rained and rained. Turned back and 2 of the three of us ran out of gas, well actually we put what gas we had into one bike so he could save us. Yah, pretty awsome!

Now that would be an adventure, ride in raft out! Might have to be on a rear tube!
Done that, all the gas to one bike a couple of times.
The most memorable trips are the one's when you have to overcome some issue!

Damn man, seeing all these shots makes me regret taking MX 5 most of the way to San Felipe. We attempted a couple of off-road sections on our way north, but both were massively whooped out old Baja course sections and they sucked. I actually thought we weren't going to make it back to MX 5 from one of 'em...lol.

Great pics and killer scenery, wish I was back there right now :(

That's the Mine Trail/Road. We went south on it towards Bola from Punta Final. Of course, first thing in the AM while we were fresh.

Day 6 Gonzaga bay to San Felipe- thru Motome wash, Bushwhacked across 10 miles of open desert.

Never heard of Motohome wash. Is this north of Puertocitas on west side of 5? Ends up at south end of Diablo lake and SF dump?

Is this between Mud Mounds and Bill Nichols trail (you called it Cactus Trail I believe.) Any chance you can share the coordinates of this fence? I have my route laid out and want to make sure this won't be a problem in February 19

I believe it is spelled Matomi Wash. Google will give you a bunch of hits on that
