    hey guys

I need to install a battery side post so I can hardwire my onboard battery charger to it

The problem I am having is that the battery cable ring has a larger diameter then the battery chargers terminal end so it does seat properly on top of it....

I bought one of these side post adapters but its too small and I cant seem to find one that has a a bigger diameter ... where can I get one?

I have been known to use anything that I can get to fit. Sheet metal screws, dry wall screws, small clamps, anything from my neighborhood hardware store. I might ruin the battery that's there or it may come out more permanent. We have these big deal inspection electrical rules here. I've failed several times but I'm good at debating mechanics at the inspection station. Been years tho.

Here's a good rule I learned on this list I think. "Make all electrical connections mechanically sound and make all mechanical connections electrically sound." Come to think of it I may have gotten that from the Chris Craft forum.

Maybe drill the terminal to fit the post then use the proper bolt.

    The terminal fits the post

The problem is the terminal ring from the battery cable is too large to properly sit on the side post terminal

There are a couple ways to "fix" your problem with proper stand off. A double male threaded like the one pictured. Or just a plain unthreaded (hole straight through) with a longer bolt.
