Hi, going south now. Today Napapiiri - Kemi (there the ice hotel is locatet) - Oulu - to Raahe , a nice, small town at the Baltic sea. have fun Andreas
Bike day, 15°C, Raahe - Oulu - Raahe. Was a beautiful ride along the Baltic Sea. Oulu, biggest town in the north. Saw cranes starting their way to the south. (Like us) Have fun
Boy alot of those places sure look empty. Is the COVID an issue in those parts or is it pretty lax? Sure looks beautiful! Prosst!
Hm, Finnland is huge and has "only" 5 million inhabitants. One reason why we choose it for this tour. You can stay alone for weeks if you want, or visit big cities and meet a lot of people. Finnland closed the border for some countries- we do not see much foreigners, mostly Germans and Estonians. Today at this one beautiful beach it was really full (for Finnland) ;-) We enjoy this quietness in Finnland a lot. A kind of detoxing and slow down. Very nice at all.
Vaasa - Archipelago - Vaasa Wow, just wow today. Island hopping, great views. First some pics from yesterday's walk downtown.
Vaasa - Pori - Rauma - Uusikaupunki More south today, at a fantastic sand beach at Yyteri, near Pori and WHO heritage Rauma and its old wood houses.
Uusikaupunki - Turku - Uusikaupunki Last day on bike ( if we don't use it tomorrow afternoon in Helsinki). Nice day with a lot island-hopping near Turku. Ferry back home comes closer and closer. Wish we could stay some.more weeks. Andreas
In a few hours we enter the ferry to Travemünde and we will be offline the next 30h. Sleep in Lübeck and than a long 900km ride on German highway back home. Have fun Andreas
Back home after a long day on german autobahn rain at the beginning in Northgermany passing Berlin Ausfahrt Lederhose, funny for Bavarians back to a lot of traffic - near Leipzig Bayern München Stadium in red this night Penzberg keep walking in my shoes a 911 km day
Hi all, did some work with my "epic" rides and collected all in this thread last week. (from Germany to ...) So - back from Finnland - had a ride last weekend with Michi again. First idea was into Salzburg-area, but ... Here the map of the tour: the profile: as Michi lives in Landshut we decided to meet at Rosenheim. So get up early, on the bike to Tölz, Irschenberg, Bad Aibling and on to the Meetingpoint near Rosenheim. (a 1h ride). We both saw a lot of traffic on the roads, so we dropped Salzburg and went on small roads to Kufstein. There we went direction Kaiserklamm. - and here are the pics. Castle at Marienstein Old houses - new (solar) technic. the river at Kaiserklamm near Brandenberg part of the "Klamm" As Michi never was in this area - we decided to take the "Zillertaler Hochalpenstraße". So on we go. Zillertal in the Background. Short breack some km after the toll-station. other direction little river nearby - icecold steeply down after the edge Zillertal ski-area is here it's a small road. nice views all the time big river in the valley. Michi enjoys the views the road we came along cross impressive view down to the end of the Zillertal overview the next some km a guided group from Switzerland arrived. They wanted to be in the Pyrenees in this days. Thanks to Covid - they ride here some days. back in the valley - and up Gerlos pass road. A short break (and a i8 BMW) view from the rest place way to Mittersill - National park hohe Tauern. nice so we passed Kitzbuehl and back to Kufstein. Here we separeted. Michi went to the highway to reach home, Me up to Bayrischzell Wendelstein Cable parking Wendelstein summit in evening light sunset near Waakirchen - 30 km to go. so reached home some min later in dark. Was a nice tour. to be continued.... have fun Andreas

Hi all next tour - nothing special - yesterday the weather was very good - after a lot of rain and ... SNOW jep - first snow in the alps - down to 1500 m - up to 70cm high. so let's see... the map and the profile As Tyrol was declared to Covid risk area this weekend - i couldn't go into the alps without risk of being sent into quarantine. So i decided to explore more small roads at Allgäu. on the way to "Hohenpeißenberg" - first view of the fresh fallen snow. direction Karwendel direct. Garmisch/ Zugspitze near Berg - a young man died here in 2003 - age 23 view to space station Raisting. other side - a cool place to relax and to enjoy (the silence) the view. behind me - an impression of last nights snow. Benediktenwand - the mountain i can spot from home. the point i stoped for the pics you just watched. Near the very small town of Berg - between Huglfing and Peissenberg on the way up to Hohenpeissenberg (did it on a road which is closed for public traffic - only for people who lives there). nice views all the time Hoher Peissenberg - one of the best view-points in front of the alps at the top - and this day we had a fantastic view parking - restaurant - everything was crowded. (the negative side of a nice day in the alps) who cares - the panorama was fantastic Karwendel-mountains Direct. Zugspitze Raisting and lake Ammersee lake Ammersee - north end at the road down - a nice idea - (red baron) some km later - Altenstadt - german army airborn base (... we had this joke with Parachute and Birdshit) still like this view to the alps Allgäu at its best less traffic - small roads - nice churches and mountains reached Bidingen (close to Kaufbeuren) and decided to go south (not to Kempten - on to Füssen) way to Füssen Forggensee near Rosshaupten (close to Füssen) still snow to watch next nice view to lake Forggensee. After a small snack in Füssen - i wanted to go home via Plansee - so i did (Plansee - it's in Tyrol uppps -- but no control, no nothing - and i didn't stop in public places) Reutte - Ski Area at Hahnenkamm (some for @Oldschoolrocker - he was skiing there as child) still Reutte close to lake Plansee look back to Reutte and woop - the beautyful lake Plansee. fall is comming soon - in some days it might be more colorfull like this lake 20 km later - back in Germany - at Ettal. on more downhill and then .... found this in Oberau -- was there so many times - never saw it. It's a copy of Lourdes (in the french pyrenees). - asked Google last night and found 6 to 10 more copies in this area - have to take a look next. but ... it's an other story. to be continued... have fun Andreas
