Sehr gut Andreas!! Great stuff and you brought back alot of memories of my youth in some of the areas. Nothing like those Alps!! Man o man! I can agree with you on how you feel about your new KTM. Definately a great machine. Sure by now you are past the break in of engine and really get to throttle it up those roads. Machts gut! Tshuss! Great stuff!! Motorcycle helmet cleaning station!!! Wow! Pretty cool all the places you all meet up too. When I was there my German buddy took me to a bunch of leather factories. Was impressed at all the super gear you all wear over there. I dont think you’d see people riding in shorts and tee shirt like some do here in US. Keep them coming!!

    Hi all,
just back from a small holiday in east-europe by car. The car is still in Austria, as it broke down yesterday. (Cooling problems). So i used the time today to make a small trip to Andechs an make some pics.

    here we go:

near the huge car parking, a zone for Motos

sometimes you see nice and old ones

the steep hill you have to climb (not visible how steep it is)

    Klostergasthof - Welcome

the lower beergarden - the sign says that you can bring your own food (this is tratition).

In this section they offer "Steckerlfisch". (grilled fish)

more up you need to go (realy hard in full bike gear)

    Holy Mountain overview

    the monastary

    near the church

    the church

the place to go - Braustüberl - where you can get the beer and food

@all: thanks for your nice comments.

    as i was rideing yesterday (2018-06-24) - here's Tour #8. :-)

    rott.JPG

    Profil:

    rott_prof.JPG

plan was to go on small roads and explore the area direction Chiemsee. So i went to Bad Heilbrunn and startet to leave the main road and check the small ones. First stop at Schweighofen to watch this.

the text on the stone says that the crest (Wappen) was given in 1508 to the little village and is official crest of the town since 1958.

Going on direction Holzkirchen - Dietramszell - one of the rare "non paved" roads in Germany without a "forbidden" sign.

not long - only 2 km, but a nice forest.

    view to other direction.

out of the forest, close to Otterfing - a nice view near a farm

Goose or ducks -- no fence. (and a huge UMTS or TV tower).

So i passed the highway and went to Kreuzstraße. (a nice Beergarden there). A bit later -- suprise - suprise - i found this.

Camels? -- far away from the dessert? But - yes. -- Bavarian Camels.

sign offers: Camel-Rideing, Child Birthdayparties, Events, Lama-Trekking, Mule-Trekking and some therapy with animals.

I could not find a webpage in English --- german one is: http://www.bayern-kamele.de/

Inside - who needs to go to .... for camels?

    even they have "exotic" tents.

young camel checks whats going on.

So i had a nice start into this day. I went on direction Glonn and Grafing. Then i found a church with an open door at Antholing.

    first impression

    fresko

    outside

    nice and typical farmer-house nearby.

    mai-pole

I wasn't that often in this area until now - not bad .. let's go on. Next suprise was ....

Herrmannsdorf -- a pig farm, with a shop, with a restaurant, with Bio, with Action for Children, and so on.

    more pics.

    Cheese production and shop

    old stuff

    may-pole and shop

    piggies and art

    guesthouse? -- don't know

    nice ones (Schwäbisch-Hallisches-Schwein).

    real nice ones.

    some km later pased this

    little lake

Then i arrived at Rott am Inn. There i went to a huge church. - here the pics.

    hells bells?

    the garden

    entrance

    huge paintings

an old man come to me and started to explain me started to explain me all the parts and specials of the church. he is doing this since years without taking anything for this. (seldom in this times). We talked even about many other things for maybe nearly half an hour. Was impressive. (he was born 1935 nearly 6 km away from this church).
In the graveyard a famous politican form Bavaria is burried - Franz Josef Strauss. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Josef_Strauss

I went on and decided to go to Sudelfeld. (a mountain pass road in the german alps nearby).

After having Camels earlier this day -- now this near Brannenburg.

    Elephants (from India i think)

you see - Bavaria is sometimes strange :-)

close to the elephant -- a ruin

At Sudelfeld i stoped for a drink and a snack. -- and meet this family

he was rideing with his 2 daughters. I asked him about the arabic writeings on the bike. he was in Africa by bike some years ago.

For me it was a very interesting day, but not the end. At Miesbach i decided to explore a small area. Leaving the main road again and...

hills and farms. -- this road had 3 deadends - 2 ended in a farm, one down in the trees.

    typical farm - closer look

after some up's and down's and some turns - i reached river Mangfall

extreme clear water. So the small road leads me to Gmund and lake Tegernsee.

Fast ride home then - Passing Bad Tölz and Bad Heilbrunn.

A very intensiv and nice day ended. (with a bbq at home) :-)

    have fun

Hi again - Tour #9 Sonthofen and #10 Ahrntal (Italy)

Small tour with Tina to test the backseat of the KTM and her new boots. Here are the Pics.

another new co-rider -- no name yet.

first stop with Tina at the Lech river near Lechbruck

    and without.

we used small roads to go to Sonthofen.

    Typical in the area.
We reached Sonthofen, stoped at Bad Hindelang for something to eat at the "Schnitzelalm". Get up the famous curves of Oberjoch-Pass and back home. Result -- Boots ok, footpegs to high for Tina, we will lower them next days.

So i had to go alone again to my next tour - went to Brunico (Bruneck) at the beginning of the Dolomites.
So passed Mittenwald, Innsbruck, Passo Brennero (Brenner) and Sterzing.

Short behind Brixen i left hte main road and get up the Strada de Sole (the sun road).

Not realy sunny, but very nice views.

    Direction Brunico

    View to Dolomites area

After Brunico i entered the Ahrntal, wich is a 40 km long dead end road with some options to the left and right. (Check Denzel)

and the most important -- the pics.

Today was one of the hottest days here in Germany this year. So i wanted to go uphill, because it's cooler in 1000 + alt. On the other hand, alps are realy (i mean REALY) crowed on days like this.

First went to Bad Tölz, and on direction Tegernsee. I decided to stop at...

    ....

    Durnbach War Cemetery near Tegernsee.

and it was a great experience this day for me.

did some pics of the graves

    the look to the alps

I was interested in the one written on the tombstone

    ...

on my way out one of these ladies asked me in english for whom i look for. I told for none, just doing fotos. Then we start a long talk.
They came from Canada, celebrated the birthday of their oncle who died here in WW II. They've been the fist time in Germany.

I was reminded in the scene of "Saving private Ryan". For me it was one of this magic "wow"-moments in life.

Thanks to them that they allowed me to tell this little story.

R.I.P Mr. James - died in the last days of the war -- so sad.

    ******************

it was so hot, so i had to go on - cool down. I went up to Spitzingsee.
    Look down to Schliersee.

    better view.

    Spitzingsee

the orange passanger with no name yet enjoys the ride.

    typical house

    coffee and Restaurants.

Spitzingsee road is a dead end. So back down and on to Sudelfeld. Passing Wendelstein. (you can reach the top by train and cable).

After an cold drink at Sudelfeld i decided to go down to Kufstein. This is Thiersee.

    Swimm-area was crowded.

at Kufstein at a gas-Station i meet an other biker. We talked a while and decided to make a small trip together. So we went to Mariastein and it's Castle.

    next stop Kaiserklamm

cold water from the mountains - not so crowded.

we went on on smal roads

    to Sylvenstein lake

here we sperated. I went home via Bad Tölz.

So for me this day i may name - "an unexpected jorney".

    have fun

Short after the start, at lake Staffelsee, i found this beautyful garden with huge sunflowers. Very impresiv - and also a typical house in the area.

Love these tours. I've been to Germany twice. Once to Munich/Heiligenstadt/Bamburg/Beyreuth area 20 years ago to visit wifes grandmother. A family friend lead us on a drive from Munich to Innsbruck then Salzburg and back to Munich. Then just a couple of years ago went to Seeg for a cousin's 50th birthday. I went sailing on the Forggensee out of Forggensee Yacht School where the cousin is a member. Also took the Tegelbergbahn tram up and walked down the mountain behind Neuschwanstein castle.

Fantastic area and fun to see your pictures and travels.

I have been following Franken since early on, in here!
After one of his rides, I think the “No Austria” trip, I PM’d him and he sent me ideas for my then upcoming trip to Germany for a renunion with my family and my mother and aunt. I followed his tracks in a car. It was a great trip and also a subsequent trip a few years ago after my mother passed away. My aunt passed away this year so maybe a moto trip next time!
Sorry for the ramble but thanks Franken and Awesome new bike!
