Close to Albania and North Macedonia now. In Kastoria we spent our last night in Greece. 20190822_180436.jpg 20190822_180502.jpg 20190822_180853.jpg 20190822_181154.jpg 20190822_182909.jpg 20190822_184036.jpg

Left Tirana in 42°C, ended in Kolasin in rain and 22°C. Found a very good Restaurant with the help of our nice host. Today we wanted to visit the Tara and Dumitor, but heavy thunderstorms took us south near Kotor. Tomorrow we go close to Dubrovnik. 20190825_161235.jpg 20190824_210831.jpg

We passed Slovenia with a 120km ride along the river Sava. Catched a bit rain at Ljubljana. Reached Austria at Klagenfurt, passed Villach and Spittal. Now we spent the last night of our holiday-tour in a nice "Gasthof". 20190830_172041.jpg 20190830_172113.jpg 20190830_192947.jpg 20190830_192951.jpg 20190830_201417.jpg 20190830_201845.jpg

    Hi all,
first - thank you so much for 10k visitors. :-)
at the moment im very busy - car broke down, final exam at my "University of Applied Sciences" ("Health Psychology and Care" - near my Job) is coming and ... the most important ... i have to process the pics of my travel to Greece.
At the moment i aks myself-- normaly i post 3 week rides in "epic ride reports". Should i keep this and post a link to the report here, or post the Greece tour here? I don't know yet. Will see in some days then i start the report. (the pics "on the fly" during the tour in this threat was the most easy solution (via Tapatalk).
    so have fun
    more pics soon !!! :-)

    Oh ... My!
I lived in Southern Germany for a few years, and we try to go back every ten years for Oberammergau's Passion Play. We're coming again next year. I'd love to do some of the touring on motorcycle: but, unfortunately, we'll have four in the group, two non-riders, and two teens. So your pics and RR provide me a much needed outlet! Vielen Dank!

I respectfully disagree - I love seeing the bike as part of the tour. But to each his/her own.

So my friends -- after being back from Greece i had some trouble with my car, a lot of work and still write an report in epic rides. :-). But today - a very beautyful autum day - i was able to do a small tour.
    so here we go...

    Map of the tour:

210 km on mostly small roads to the Allgäu and Füssen (where the Kings castel is placed). Back via Plansee and Murnau.
    so let's see the pics.

Franken - awesome ride reports. Keep them coming.

Also curious as to your thoughts between your KTM 1290 and BMW 1200 adventure bikes. Which has been the better bike for you and Why?

    Dankeschön

    Hi,
thanks for your reply. -- hm, i try to explain.

for me - travel in holiday should be a 2 Zyl Enduro. I do 80% on road, 20% gravel roads - going slow, my wife in the back. Alone i go a bit faster in all terain.

We get the BMW after a KTM 950 S wich made some trouble every year. The BMW was good for long distance rides. Just sit on it and go. 30 l in the tank - no problem. For my wife Tina a lot of space. She liked it very much. No work with a chain. Negative for me - mine needed oil. I had to carry a liter at all longer rides and refill some times. (I don't like bikes when they need too much oil).
The biggest point - going offroad with a 300kg bike. (easy offroad - as i call it always). I didn't feel safe with Tina in the back more times than i wanted.
So - BMW - nice bike, a lot of space for all, easy to ride on road, needed oil, didn't feel safe offroad.

    Get a KTM 1290 in 2018. -- hm,
not so much space on the seat, uncomfortable seat. Knee angle not too good (specialy for Tina). A bit work with the chain.
Very easy to ride on and offroad. (feels like riding mountainbike - even with Tina in the back). Enough space for our luggage.
So - KTM - nice bike, unconfortable seats, easy to ride at all terain.

Both bikes not realy perfect for us.
    (we need a BMWKTM) :-)

a big part also is - riding skills. Get teached here all the time when i meet with my Africa Twin friends.

hope this small answer explains it a bit.

    Have fun
    Andreas
