Hey! going on a ride on Sunday with a group know as Homoto. I can add a guest if you want to come or feel free to join the group. I can send you the link if ya want. The ride starts at 9 in Brisbane. Not a super long ride but a good way to get aquatinted. it will be my first ride with them too.

I'm Berkeley based and keen to find others as well. What do you ride, how do you want to ride, what interests you? I posted a travelog of a ride with my son which you can find in Epic Rides. I'm into to going dual-sporting as much as possible and driving from the bay area to anyplace is a lot of gas, but I can carry a lot in my truck.

Awesome! I ride a KTM Super Adventure S. I just read your travel log! Looked incredible. I'm fairly new to riding motorcycles in the dirt and this bike definitely has some limits compared to your dual sports. However, very interested in learning good habits on the dirt with people that know more. Really any exploration of roads lesser known is my jam, and just finding cool views where no one is around.

Whats the closest area to SF where one can ride fire roads or any off-road?

Metcalf in San Jose and Hollister in, uh, Hollister are parks where I've seen people on big bikes. North up around Clear Lake and west up in the foothills are the closest, afaik. The parks are good for practicing, but obviously not great for exploration.

Go north young man, no but seriously anything east is 2 hours plus just to reach the dirt.

If you don't mind putting in the miles or want to camp out there are some great areas to ride near bass lake, whiskey falls area

Different flavors going north or east both have pros and cons

Well... That's what I said! North of Clear Lake. That's at least as far as the Sierras - Georgetown, Washington, Foresthill are all 2-2½ hours away, but so is anyplace north of Clear Lake, no?

I was replying to your post where it looked like you were asking for clarification, "Where to the north?" Didn't see anybody specifically call out MNF as a destination.

But I agree its about the same distance as some of the closest places in the Sierras, but I would say there's usually less traffic between SF & MNF than SF to the Sierras.

Long time Bay Area 990adv rider and am now on a 1090adv. Miss that 990 and now have $ down on the list for a 790, thinking that it's a lot closer. But because Scuderia doesn't allow test rides (unlike the old days) I'm here with a request to find someone on a 790 who is also interested in trying a 1090 for an hour or so, while allowing me to ride your 790 - no dirt (as I'm sure it's exceptional there) - just interested in the routine feel on asphalt. Feel free to PM me - thanks.

Crazy that a dealer wont test you a product that you will pay them $14k for! Doesnt KTMNA have a say in that? Im certain that it hurts their sales

I was thinking the same thing, here's someone that's already a KTM fan and likely to buy, but not sure which one and wants to test ride, how much more would someone who isn't already a KTM fan want to test ride before even thinking of purchasing?

That sounds like fun, if I'm not out shooting at birds, I'll see if the wife wants to go for a ride.
