    Yep.

But you better bring your own paper. Ranger doesn't service it anymore since the bridge is out.
Oh, and check it for snakes before you go in, found a little one in there once.

I was up there with SFMCjohn and CA-Cincinnatus, and I'm pretty sure the steel plate is not on the outhouse, but there were garbage bags in both of them, and a little TP in one. I was surprised to see it. I did check for snakes when I opened the door for sure.

CA-Cincinnatus encouraged us to try to live better on this overnight camp-out than we usually do ...

often use Buck Island as a first-night camping spot when doing a multi-day Mendo trip ... think it’s just less than 130 miles from Lower Haight. :ricky

I brought an 8" CI pan, John brought an 8" CI pan with lid, aka Dutch Oven. Dinner rolls after dinner, cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

We both brought steaks, John brought red onions & bell peppers. I'd marinated my steak in garlic olive oil, salt, pepper, & thyme... :D

And that CI made those steaks taste delicious and for sure, the dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls...totally worth it.

    Hi everyone!
I live in San Diego, ride mostly on Baja single track, sold my big ADV bike years ago, and I am being transferred to the North Bay Area for work. I have a few questions!

Where are the cool, and also affordable, places to live within 45 minutes of Concord?
Are there any single track trails anywhere up there?
Which breweries/restaurants are worth checking out first?

Welcome Dude, funny how last week I stalked your baja adventure thread. I was thinking how you had a great life so close to the border. You bringing the vanbulance with you? Regarding affordable living (haha) Concord is a good spot, but rents in the bay are dropping since Covid. Pittsburg is lower cost housing and you probably like it hot anyways, and it would be closer to heading out to the Sierra's or Mendocino forest (or whats left of it)...as you go east the housing prices are lower depending on neighborhood; breweries and restaurants everywhere; join us at the East Bay Riders monthly gathering.

    Well, status update -

So I fell off the GSA on Saturday once or twice and on Sunday once or twice or more. Ankle hurt like hell during & after the first fall, second & further falls didn't decrease the "F*ck, this hurts" stuff.

Got in for an x-ray on Friday, got results today - "a comminuted fracture through the distal fibula in near anatomic alignment", so I kinda damaged the fibula in the ankle area, yay. Orthopedic appointment next week, where they'll tell me I'm in a lot of pain and I should stay in bed with my foot elevated (duh). Might need surgery, might not. "Near anatomic alignment" to me (I'm distantly related to a GP, so I can self-diagnose & self-treat, right?) means it's not really bad.

That being said, I've learned my lesson. More power in sandy, rocky conditions will get you out of those conditions a lot faster than slowing down & trying to see what's directly ahead. Look far, speed up, go far. :D

Distal fibula injuries with good alignment usually heal really well with no lasting damage. Heal fast mate!

Damn Peter! You must have been in some serious pain for a lot of our ride. I'm sorry man. You are a real trooper though for pulling through.

    Heal up!
