Count me in. dont know if I want to ride that many miles and be in dixie for my efforts. would rather try a big circle kind of thing rather than down and back. lets brainstorm, thinktank etc etc. could meet in pa on I80, slab to Iowa, drop to KC, come back on I70. dont know what that comes out to. I'm in. we could end up at Peps and have him validate us......

NY, NY to Kansas City is 1197 miles ONE way. from Harrisonburg, VA to KC is 993 miles WTF??

all I'm thinking is 1500+ miles total. hell, I'm not doing the IBA rally yet!! :D

I'm thinking leaving early one Saturday morning and being done sometime Sunday. if it turns into a BB1500 Gold fine. if not, make sure to complete the BB1500.

it could be like the Star Trek OK Corrall episode, the clantons and doc holiday all join in silently one by one as they march on to the gunfight. we could ride by predetermined points and just join in on our 1500 mile circle.

    just found out:

Before you can apply for Bun Burner Gold certification (1,500+ miles in 24 hours), you must have at least completed one of the following; a SaddleSore 1000, a Bun Burner 1500 (1,500 miles in 36 hours), a SaddleSore 2000 (or other similiar IBA ride), the Alberta 2000, Minnesota 1000, TimberButt, Tarbutt Rally, Utah 1088, any Cognoscente Group event, any MERA event, or the Iron Butt Rally. IMPORTANT NOTE: Other 24 and 36 hour rallies qualify. Their omission here is not intentional, it is just not possible to list all qualifying rallies. If you are unsure if a rally you finished is acceptable, please contact info@ironbutt.com.

so, if you haven't done this you may not want to tag along on our BB1500 Gold attempt

    see http://www.ironbutt.com/rides/bbg.htm for the rules

Yah, what a rule. I guess it's to keep the unqualified from busting out and tring something they are not ready for. Hmmm not sure that applies to you Pep, what do you think Freak??

:dunno it's their rule. it applies to the BB1500 Gold.

One would think that they would give Pep credit for the BB1500 for doing the ride. He would still get his beanie.

send the IBA an e-mail and ask

    Hey Freakin,
It depends on which weekend you decide to ride, I may be able to go. The first weekend in Oct is open for me, the second weekend I am in side car operators class in Danville. Maybe I'd come up to Harrisonburg on Friday evening, or meet you on I-81 at Hangin Rock (Salem Exit #141), or Christiansburg VA exit. I like the southern route you had originally, but whatever....doesn't really matter.
Next year I do hope to do a 50cc. Then take my time getting back.:tush

the first weekend on October looks good to me. that would be Saturday, the 5th.

where ya want to go? Jackson, MS or Daytona, FL?

or we can figure out a circle route.

playing around with the map software last night.

Harrisonburg, VA to Nashville to Indianapolis, to Harrisburg, PA and back to H-burg, VA is only 1251. We need a few more miles.

Jackson MS and back looks like the simple way to go!!

Have the software try this: from Indy, north to I80, east to PA on 80, back down I81 to Harrisonburg? I'd still rather do a circle rather than a down and back on same road, allthough leaving Mississippi behind does sound tempting.

figure 200 miles between fuel stops.

quick fuel stops at the corners to prove route.
quick fuel stops at any semi-questionable route changes to prove route (basicallly on the 3rd leg)

15 to 20 minute breaks at the fuel stops.

eating on the fly at the fuel stops

set the date for October 5

So who wants an IBA beanie??
