Hey I'm feeling sorry for you! Been there done that not much fun waiting to heal.

I have always been wondering how you got your bike home?
and thanks for the pic, it is the one of your bags that I wanted to see.

I hope you heal all the way.

Some buddies came up in my truck from Vancouver to Merritt the next day. I brought them down a load of Sockeye the week before with the bike in the back. I guess "what goes around comes around". My son came up a few days laters in the girlfriend's daddy's Jaguar to whisk me home in sports limousine comfort.

What is so interesting about my bags?

    Ken;
Sorry to hear about this.......get well soon.

I was one of the KTM's that you met during the Kamloops trail ride last year.

I don't think this was mentioned, but what kind of boots were you wearing??

Do you think better boots would have stopped the break??

    Cheers

Ken I hope you got a chance to drink some refreshments and rest your leg yesterday watching US football. Here are a few photos from day 1 of the trip.

There is still a small section between Big Bar ferry & the Gang Ranch bridge that is unknown to me.

Not much exciting but I did notice there is a road along the east side of the river, which is not the traditional route to the Gang Ranch as you have to do some back-tracking and this makes it a longer option.

If you mean the east side High bar to Big Bar ferry road, OurBC & I did that twice in the last 3 years. totally spectacular road. Very lonely though, saw only 3 vehicles in 180km

Still looking to cover it eventually as far as the Bella Coola road to the north. about 6 years back, some of us did a foray into the area northwest of Hanceville to Two Lake, looking for fishing holes. The terrain was quite flat with shallow lakes too weed filled for shore fishing. Mostly fresh ploughed mud & dry sand in that area, so we gave up trying to make headway at that time. Still, lots more to explore though.

If you are looking for fishing I am told that Chilko Lake is where to head for, Yea the area north of the Gang and over to Hanceville or Alexis Creek is pretty flat and tree covered.

I also got similar info plus some other possibilities in that area. He said he caught about 200 trout in a week, the smallest being 17". Almost as good as my "fish story" ... just before starting this last trip, I landed over 25 salmon in the Campbell River before 10am. Two days in a row!. In one spell, 7 hooked & landed in 7 casts.

I left the flatlands for good in July of this year. I live in Kelowna now.

    Finally smartened up?

You have to go a long ways North in Sask to get good fishing on the Canadian Shield - it is a long way east & north. Cypress is very nice, but you won't need the kayaks and I have heard the the brown trout fishing is good along Battle Creek on the west bock side toward the Alberta border. Wine in Saskachewan???? The only good whining is when crop prices are poor or it's drought time. Don't get your hopes up mate!

I have already been to the specific winery I'm thinking of, just south of Maple Creek. Brought back 6 bottles in my saddlebags last visit. The wife wants more.

Been in the Prairies in summer, won't hold a candle to the voracious black flies along the BC Coast or the Yukon.

Good pix! Thanks again for your help to the hospital.

I don't do football, too many travel shows to watch instead. Also looking online for the newest farkles for both bikes. I expect to have a lot of shopping done while laid up

Enough of the cold, we all went up Gold Dust Motel in Gold Bridge. Darlene the owner was very helpful and set us up with some rooms, we then had lunch and fueled up at Sally's Pub in Bralorne.

    Elixir of the Gods?

Under normal conditions one would never let anyone take or keep such photos, but when you under the influence, control does slip away.

I hope life is getting easier now, but I can imagine the boredom is tedious.

    Wish you the best!

    OUCH, thats gotta hurt!
Tall dirt bike style boots are great, but a pain to walk in if you have to.
Jungle or dessert boots (military) light, fast to dry but any flying rocks, sure hurts on contact.
    Hiking boots, no thanks!
Good leather work boot, lineman (Pierre Paris style) still the best IMHO

    (plus the shin guards LOL)

Get well, hope to join in on a trip one of these years.

Pierre Paris style??? Not the 3 inch thick soled ones I had for pole climbing!

I'll stick to my Gaerne motocross design with armoured shins thank you very much. Even not so bad for walking when bought a half sized larger to fit my custom orthotics. I even have enough room for electrically heated toes on the inserts, set up with wiring much like the E-vest.

BTW, the surgeon today gave me the OK to start putting weight on it, & no air cast while sleeping. Maybe now the wife will let me climb in with her again.

At that point, all I wanted was the laughing gas hose. 4 days on a morphine drip was some small relief also.

No time for boredom ... I have still over 10,000 photos from China, Tibet, Nepal, & India to process, then make showings at our "Elder College" armchair travel classes. 50 hours of video too.
