Minus 2c and I'd be more than happy to stay indoors too!!
Yeah that's too cold for old bones.
Well the bike is as ready as it will get. Packing in the a.m. Hopefully I can wrap up some lingering work and be out by Thursday morning.
Rock on, let's get those wheels rolling! You've got the WR fanclub with you, so go make us jealous!
Looks like a good ride, following along from N Tampa. And another member of the WR fan club here.
Welcome aboard! Hopefully by this time tomorrow I will be unloading my bike in a little town just north of Sebring.
Big thank you to inmate @sanjoh for offering up a place to store my truck for a couple of weeks. It's going to save me over 500 miles of slab. Maybe I'll even have a few knobs left on my tires when I get home!
PM me if you need a place to stay in N Georgia. I am pretty close to the SEAT and SM 500.
Awesome, much appreciated!
I’m in, a few days late but it looks like the fun is just about to begin.
You know I am watching and waiting to see this RR.
I am trying to find the route of the FLAT. Just getting hiking trails. My google fu is not strong this morning. You have a link to it's route?
Dan, hope you're well man. Unfortunately the route is a bit of a tease. After spending 6 years putting it together I decided not to publish it. Due to some pressure from several communities along the the route as well as requests from long time local riders I just couldn't pull the trigger in good faith. Hopefully one day I can figure out a way to put it out there without it upsetting folks but until then it is what it is.
Here's the RR from the Big Bike route.
Shows you how much I know about riding off road I thought it was a established trail like the TAT that people write about on here. Your decision not to publish it is probably a good one. Heck, sometimes I don't like to tell people about some of the curvy roads in FL.
I asked just to get a general idea of your travel routes. I certainly respect you keeping actual routes private.
Oh and I am doing well. Rode out to Arkansas and the Ozarks for a week or so. Then just got back from Barber this week. So getting my riding in at least.
Great ride report on the older one, GB. I'm always a little surprised when I see places I've been referred to in ride reports. The Air Guard got me out to Avon Park and Sebring a couple of times when we still had A-10s. Couldn't bring a motorcycle, but my buddies and I got some mountain bike time exploring some of that area 15 years ago. Totally different terrain and scenery than I'm used to in New England, loved seeing it. After reading this RR, I want to go back with an internal combustion engine.
Looking forward to this one....
Thank you KMM! Glad to hear that you enjoyed seeing that part of FL. You should definitely get down here on a motorized conveyance. Lots of beautiful back roads!
Good luck, following along...I thought this was the Dry season? Guess it's going to be swampy start.
Right?! What is up with this weather?!
67 and sunny in the Mountains
Don't let off the gas till u hit NGA
THAT I can do!
I'll be rolling out of my house by 5 a.m. tomorrow. Everything is loaded except for putting the bike into the truck. By this time tomorrow I should be well north of Orlando.
Faithful WR250r loaded for 2 weeks of dirt flogging!!
This what I'm taking minus tools ( tire spoons and tube as well) , my camp stove and toiletries which were already packed when I snapped this pick. All in @ 29 lbs. That weight doesn't include my Camelbak which I always ride this bike with. Would be less but I've got cold and wet weather gear with me.
I'm still not a member of the ADV-F church founded by @Joe Motocross but I'm slowly finding my faith...
