ALL IN! Looking forward to a GB report!!
Had a great day. Sketchy wifi. Will update asap.
Quick update. Great day of riding yesterday. As typical these first few days are me adjusting to being on the road, trying to disconnect. I love my family and left the house a bit late because I was enjoying a morning with Sarah.
As I was leaving my house for the drive up I noticed a tiny puddle of oil where my bike had sat. Turns out that I'd left the crush washer off like a dumbass and there it was, bright and shiny sitting in the pan. That would be my first order of business once I unloaded the bike in South Central FL .
Didn't spill a drop!
Hung out with my friend Sharon for a bit before hitting the road around noon. A late start.
Spent the day trying to make miles. Got waylaid in the Citrus WMA after finding a bunch of cool stuff to ride. Spent over two hours playing which killed the mileage this. Oh well, great time.
Spent the night at a cool little campground with a bar. No crazy shenanigans but a great time none the less.
Site on the water.
Alright, back on the road!!
Today by the numbers.
78 - That's how fast a loaded WR250r will go on sandy roads wide open.
Infinite - The number of oaks and pine I saw today
10 inches- How deep you'll burry your back wheel if you pin it from a stop in sugar sand
1- fence lizard
1-pissed off rattlesnake
100s- abandoned structures
All of them- suckers on the freeway
Thousands- head of cattle
In Waycross GA. $38 for a campsite or $50 for a hotel next to a Mexican joint... 3 guesses which I picked? Here's a hint , I'm getting tequila.
Don't forget, full RR when I get home!
I've been running routes that I've strung together. Today I'll finally be on the actual SEAT.
One thing that I didn't mention yesterday is that one of my buddies that I was supposed to meet up with in NC had a nasty crash on Friday. He hit a hog while going 45 mph. The end result is one trashed Triumph and a friend that's pretty busted up. Nothing life threatening but it'll be a while before he's riding again.
That was weighing on me a bit yesterday , especially later in the day as I was blasting through the forest around deer o'clock. I reigned it in a bit , realizing that unlike my buddy, I'm solo and wouldn't be seeing another soul for quite some time if I get taken out. No cell service wasn't much comfort either.
ABS did not save this bacon.
So send some good vibes in my buddy's direction and ride safely out there.
Going to try and knock out some decent mileage today. Looking forward to being on someone else's route for a change!
Ride safe Ginger Beard. I'll send out a prayer or two for your buddies recovery.
Thank you man.
Made it to Aiken SC.
Good day but got into some heavy rain near Augusta.Killed my plans for a river camp site but I got Zaxby's and feel better now.
More blacktop than expected. They're paving the south at an alarming rate. Lots of fast and flowing dirt roads. Most have good sight lines that promote cruising at 60. Like sugar sand highways. Truck ruts make the bike squirm around and shake it's head. Makes it feel like you're floating.
Praying. Hogs (Javelina for us) and deer scare me the most!
Had to dodge a buck this evening.
Following along. Take risks and have fun.
Best of luck to your injured buddy. Ride safe. Avoid furry creatures....
I'll be checking in on your ride next week. From the Caribbean Club
Better than bucking a dodge!
2 days of Autumn temps this weekend < thanks Wyoming > and back to summer temps all week here We are running 11 degrees above normal for fall weather. Too bad my riding time is crimped/stoved up with my car port project for front of shop.
I love stuff like this.
Good start Dave.
Have a margarita for me
You've got to sneak away on those days.
Thanks Dano. Finding some cool stuff along the way.
In McCormick SC. Headed to Robbinsville NC for the night.
Went to bed to this.
Woke up to this.
Sorry about the lack of updates. Absolute shit wifi.
