Just hoping someone may be able to help with some general info. I've never ridden that area much, not at all for years and have only the vaguest general knowledge. I'll do a reccy soon in planning a day ride for a few blokes around here (KLRs, various BMWs etc) and appreciate any recent knowledge.

A/ What's Bellthorpe Road itself like? Is it pretty straightforward to enter from the East and just go all the way through to the Jimma end?

B/ Instead of coming back all the way along Sunday Creek Road, thought we might turn off into Booloumba Creek Road instead. Is it open all th way through now?

C/ Grigors Road is another option on the way back. What's Grigors itself like at the moment? And can you still get across there from Booloumba Creek Road?

All advice appreciated. Bear in mind mixed skill levels and big bikes.

That would be great if you guys report back. I've been here umpteen years and now only just starting to look at the roads other than Sunday Ck Rd in that neck of the woods. It's a bit far from anywhere to be riding by myself if I don't know where I am! I'm usually further north.
I did think the Jimna to (Bellthorpe Road?) was a great little ride, did it the first time recently, but apparently you can come back towards Conondale and miss out a lot of bitumen near the Bellthorpe end? Edit: So that's what Grigors road is then?

Sounds a bit like Grigors Road, but I don't really know the area.....I'll be following Byg Daddee and relying on his navigational skills and mastery of associated technology.

Yes, a Masturbiker. Or is it Master Navigator, shortened to Masturgator. Wish I was coming, but occasionally I do work.

A/ Easy. Did it last weekend with a couple of big bikes all the way from Woodford. There's a couple of red clay patches west of the old sawmill which become glazed if there's any rain but when it's dry it's good.
B/ Yes. The new bridge on Funnels Hut Rd has been open for a couple of months. There are 2 water crossings near Boloumba Campground but no deeper than about 200mm. There's a lot of traffic so the bottoms are well compressed.
C/ Last time I rode on Grigors Rd it was a bit rutted on the steep bit where it leaves the National Park. Downhill would be OK on a big bike with care, uphill even more care. I've been told it's been graded recently. Dunno. It may be on my plan for tomorrow so will advise later.

Grigors CAN get a bit sketchy dave i mean dean, remember one tree lookout we rode up to on the TTR’s a few years ago, bit like that but more rutted

And im not going anywhere near that area of clay described if its been raining, it only has to look like rain and water starts coming out of the ground in that area multi described

We’ll be good, we’ll work it out :dllama:

Grigors Rd is graded and the small drop into a small waterway at the bottom nlrthern end as you enter the cow paddocks has had a pipe and dirt road built over it.

Mr Duk, get your 501 out and ready for next days off.

It's been fixed and polished within an inch of its life, so now I think the 501 is now a Hastings Street, Noosa coffee-run bike... (I should have taken a photo!)
I think anything dirt will now be a 450 with knobbies ride???

This is the water drain at the northern end before the start of the cow paddocks today. Cow paddocks road is same as always, while all the red clay and rutted hill parts are dry and hard. Bellthorpe is also completely dry and surprisingly not that dusty. Wont be a problem for the Honda Dave.
It is also sign posted as 'Easy' standard along the track.

Nice to see the 390 got out for a ride. What happened to taking the 390 for road rides, and the 500 for dirt rides?? :D
