The Berkshire Trail Riders Association presents the

    Berkshire 2014 Triple
Trail Ride, Dual Sport, and Adventure Ride

Come ride the Berkshire’s! Three route sheets to choose from:

Trail Ride: For enduro bikes and trail worthy dual sports. Knobby tires are a must. The route will be mostly on single track trails and rugged woods roads. Bypasses may be used for the hardest sections.

Dual Sport: Route will consist of more dirt roads and rough woods roads. Dual Sport riders will have the choice to jump into the Trail Ride route sheet at times as a hero section. Knobby tires still recommended.

Adventure Ride: A classic big bike friendly tour of scenic paved and dirt roads in SW New England. A route sheet holder highly recommended as this ride will not be arrowed. The route is easy to follow using just a route sheet.

Date: September 14, 2014. Start time 9am. Mandatory riders meeting 8:30am. Last rider out 9:30am.

Start Location: 1043 Burt Hill Road, Tolland, MA 01034. (Follow the arrows from Route 57, Tolland MA)

    Sign-up: Sunday 7-9am.

    Pre-Entry: $35 | Post Entry: $40 | Download form at: http://mudslinger.org/triple/index.html

Mail Pre-Entry to: Berkshire Trail Riders, PO Box 601, Winsted CT 06098

Requirements: NETRA or AMA membership suggested but not required. Route-sheet holder suggested. Motorcycle drivers license, valid license plate mounted on fender, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, working headlight and taillight. Spark arrestor/muffler 96DB MAX! We will be running a strict sound test on all bikes.

Parking: There will be a $5 per vehicle parking donation to benefit the land owner

Camping: Primitive camping at start. $20 donation per site to benefit land owner. No dogs or open fires.

Gas Stop: There will be gas available on the route. Two strokes bring oil.

We can give accurate mileage after we finalize the 3 routes. Probably 2 weeks before the event. For now ... think 60 mile trail ride (hard trails!) or 60 mile dual sport ride (woods roads). 100 mile ADV ride (dirt and back roads).

The Trail Ride and the Dual Sport routes will criss cross as they have in prior years. So if you get tired running the TR and need a break you can do a section of the DS.

The Trail Ride will be similar to the past events with lots of enduro single track and the opportunity to take a stab at the infamous "ledges" if you want to add more scratches to your bike. :D

adventure ride is a 140 mile loop, no hero sections so it doesn't have to be swept. all state and town roads - dirt and paved, very scenic

There is just so much dirt road in western mass. Some you'll recognize, some is in reverse, some is new to this ride, some was used for the BBA. You can't help using some of the same roads in a 140 mile loop. Don't worry, your ass will be sore enough at the end.:eek1

How is the sound test completed, is it just at idle at a certain distance?

I recently picked up a ktm 530 exc and the previous own uncorked the exhaust, curious if it will pass or if I need to figure out someway to get it back to stock. It's currently about halfway between 450 motocrosser and stock ktm.

We run a standard AMA compliant sound test. If you are worried then re-pack the silencer. 96db max at rated RPM (we have a book with the RPM listed by brand/model).
