Because we moved so much dirt it is actually still settling so we are waiting before we build.

In the meantime Patty has been busy building me a house on the lower section of land

And because I'm a complete idiot I decided I should have a off grid solar system
    IMG20200404135217.jpg

Yesterday we flipped the switch. Officially off grid self sufficient with electricity and water now
    IMG20200404173741.jpg

But you know Patty can't resist planting something on her wall

Thanks for the update! Looks very nice but a bit small? Is it going to be a guest house once the main house is done on the GWT? (Great Wall of Thailand)

Ha ha ha. You got it bang on! After spending extended time traveling on a motorbike I've realized I don't need much in life. Less time cleaning the giant house, more time outside enjoying life. But our small house will be nice when complete...

Umm, ya she's still like that. I bought aluminum fry pans now. They hurt less than the cast iron ones.

Off grid solar system, I am totally envious of you I tried to find someone interested or at least my wife did (That maybe the mistake) in intalling this and had no luck, maybe things have moved on in the last few years and I need to try again, if there is anywhere in the world that a solar system makes sense its Thailand. Looks good my friend, well done. Never mind lights and water, electric bikes and a car spring to mind

I did a lot of research, contacted several companies and decided to try and do it myself. One of our neighbors suggested we look at a resort about 25 minute drive from us. Umm, wow! 4,300 Rai (equivalent to 1,700 acres or 688 hectares), off grid resort/community. I asked the owner which company he used for the solar. He said he got screwed royally from the company he used. He eventually found a independent guy to help sort them out. The guy is brilliant and set up our system based on what I told him I want and what he told me would or wouldn’t work. Very happy with it so far. Sometimes you actually get lucky?

Yes, it is going to be my house for me and my bikes. BTW, where is my bike? Did you paint it green?

Your bike is waiting patiently. I put some air in the tires. Hmm, green is Patty’s favorite color...

Awesome house. Love the simple lines - no egotistical architecture. Making it the size you need and no bigger is really smart. You can drive a box truck into it - and someone said it is small ?

I really like the local living aspect of this report.

Garage for the bikes was built long before the house construction. Need to keep this shit real
