I just bought some Splug, single driver with the 22" cord, but sent them back because 22" is really short and did not work for my setup

22" is only long enough to connect to a helmet mounted comm system.

Now is the Splug single just a one ear speaker?

Anyone with Splugs have issues with the tips coming off in their ears? I have had this problem 3 separate times with my Etymotics that the silicone tip came off when removing them and had to be dug out with needle nose pliers. Not great I have to say. And has kept me from using them ever again. Been thinking about just making some Radian custom plugs without speakers and maybe even a pair with speakers. Seems like they would be more comfortable. I think my inner ear must get sensitive after 6-7hrs on the bike with the inner ear speakers cause my ears get super sore. Sore to the point where I have to wait a week or so to put any other earplugs in. Or maybe I'm doing it wrong or something? I can even get sore from the orange ear plugs we have from work.

As others have said, helmet speakers plus the right plugs are a great combination. I have a Sena setup and always wear Alpine Plugs. That way I can get phone calls, music, and GPS info through the bluetooth, and still cut out windnoise. I suspect I don't get the sound fidelity that some here want, but when I'm riding, I listening to mostly 1970s rock and can tolerate the trade off, so I have the benefits of listening to what I want to hear while still protecting my ears.

When you buy the Splugs you get a special deal for future if you decide you want a fitted set. I left the speakers in my helmet, so I can take out the Splugs for slow offroad sections where I don't need sound attenuation and still have NAV and comms from the speakers. I've had the splugs in for four hours and it seemed I was good for more but who knows. I have a trip to the eastern Sierras coming up and day one is over 300 miles, so we'll see how they do.

    Which model do you have?
Westone has a dealer near me but it looks like the CR10's are their least expensive model at $299.

I know, but they allow my helmet speakers to work.

S-plugs are sound in both ears.

Just placed an order for some Splugs. Hope they are worth the cost. Midis the 22" single drivers. I only need the cord to go to my Sena 20s that's why I got the short cord.

I have the Splug, for me they don't provide enough isolation. Wind noise is bad. Hope it works out for you.

Somethings wrong, mine have too much attenuation if anything. Do you have large ear canals? if so they can buils the Splugs on a larger speaker that sounds better, and should seal better for you.

I'm jealous! I would give anything to hear silence. I might give them a call and see if a larger one would do the trick.

I have tried a few different type of ear buds without much success. Found these Koss earbuds at Menards and they are pretty good for $15. Great sound, with foam tips to keep down ambient sound you don't need to crank up the tunes to hear over wind noise [IMG]
