Hey, I'm pretty close to the lytle creek trailhead, mind if I tag along next time? Looks fun. I usually do Big Bear area out of Highland, haven't done LC in a long long time.

The 15 might be a lot busier than normal. The only way into Big Bear as of right now is Hwy 18 from Lucerne. The 38 is closed, and you can't get through on the 330 because Hwy 18 is closed right after Green Valley Lake Rd. If anyone wants to ski, you can't get to Snow Valley at all. Gotta go to Big Bear via Lucerne. Hope for your sake the 15 isn't crowded. Plus it's a holiday weekend too.

I think you'll be finding some paved and dirt roads washed away in your discovery trip.

I had the same thoughts.....I was just looking at the weather and it looks like wind in the desert, but the local hills look like a good bet. What are you riding?

They just ran a bulldozer up top of palm on Monday. Flattened all of the regular early deep rut areas. The snow started to be an issue just after the last rocky straight climb when nearly the top of ridge.

Thanks for the heads up Julie :wave
Had no idea there were so many highway issues in the local mtns :eekers

Probly on the 690. I want to put some more miles on before tearing apart for suspension and some maintenance.

Good to know, though I wasn't planning on Palm due to likely snow at the top.

    Thanks Julie :thumb
Had no idea they put up that much detail for just the dirt roads.

aanichols and I rode a bunch of those last weekend.
Only found one gate closed at the east end of Lower Lytle Creek Divide near Glen Helen.
(There may have been gates closed on the roads we didn't take :dunno)
Lots of little water damage, little rock or mud slides, dirt rinsed away leaving only gravel along the length of LLCD.
Sheep Creek was fine, but the road is getting undercut a the 'wet spot' in the canyon on the east side. Narrow for 4-wheel vehicles.
Swarthout was glazed over due to road crews in dump trucks repairing damage at the wash crossing below the Korean Church.

Was expecting to see more damage, but we were on the medium bikes and avoided the roads that typically get the most erosion.

    On that note...
Meeting dad tomorrow (sunday 2/24) to do some exploring on the small bikes.
